Yup, I'm referring to the blue dial variant. I've seen white dial ones for much less.

If it's a 16618, maybe not $15k but $16/17k should get you there.

Without doubt that YG is a 10/10.

But with a black dial and a black bezel it would be an 11/10.

And more comfortable to wear out there.

Combo #1, but please note that you can get a new Chronomat for 4K. Look around as you may get some of your pieces new.

While gold is softer the amount of times something will mark the brushed gold but not the SS is pretty small, it is the polished parts that are the problem but that happens on polished SS as well so try not to worry about that and just enjoy the watch. As been said the new 116618 will be close to $20K for a good condition one.

Should be no problem with getting chronomat gmt 44 in house movement with stickers for 4 k.

Bought one for this amount and after 1 year of affair sold for exactly the same money.

Loved it but had a chance to buy discounted Panerai and had to let it go to keep my colection down ( deal with wife).
Definitely will pick up one in the future as it is one of most accurate watch I ever had and build like rock.

Anyway I am still voting for option 2 although never seen YG Sub for 15 K.
Good luck.

IMO, 15k is kind of an awkward number for a gold Rolex. If you're looking for a full gold model, you're probably going to have to do some hunting to find a nice pre-owned example in that price range. Or stretch for something like a 116655 or 116615.

In steel, you could go YM2 or get fairly close to that by paying the premium on a Daytona-C. Or, you could go D-Blue and one of the new Tudor in house.

Alternatively, you could go one of the new DJ41's along with something in the 5k range like an EXP.

Add a few more $$$ and do option 2. Unless you really like the TT option. I personally don't care for TT watches.

Going to differ with 99% of the respondents here. With $15K in your pocket towards another timepiece, how about considering a 'vintage' Rolex (i.e. an original 1655 Explorer II/circa 1971-72)? That amount of moolah will certainly have you in the ballpark and chances are, the watch will retain its value over the years in the event you decide to sell it later down the road.

I say option #2.. Gold Sub is real nice.

for 2k you can buy a few vintage Seiko 7002 divers.
for the money, they are great.

Indeed CWIN! And the 116618 can be had for just under $20k. But as they say... what they don't know won't hurt them ;-).

Others may have said this but there isn't a lot of love for TT's here or Britling's. The YG Sub has many fans. The TT and couple SS Role pieces would turn the tide for #1. That said get what you like... opinions here are helpful but they are your watches and only you will wear them. Unless you buy the YG Sub in which case I'd like to borrow...

Forgot to report back. So the 2 gold subs at $15k were sold. My friend and dealer said to budget around $14k-$17k. In meantime I did a high bang for buck combo.

1) Breitling Chronomat 44 B01 with diamond bezel and gator strap to balance the bling some. This is the first even semi-bling watch I have ever owned. I decided that I take myself too seriously and that this is a hobby after all. I actually like how from 10 paces and not in bright light it looks stainless only. But up close and in good light the quality of the diamonds are top notch. Never been a diamond anything guy but variety and growth are good! Plus I'll be in Vegas next week so it'll fit in just fine. LOL

2) Panerai PAM Luminor Base. Simple, timeless, dresss up or down, strap fun etc.

I will spring for the 18k Sub when I find the right one. That's what I told the wife at least since I'm shopping classic cars ;-). Here are some pics.
