great looking car the Macan. I know I am in the minority, but I prefer the BMW X3, almost the same power, and you can save some 10K to 15k

Fair enough...for some people getting their car parked in front at the valet is fun.

More "dynamic"...

Hey Mark,
Not sure who the other guy is,but I am all in.

Others, unlike Mark,I am a car guy(and a Cali cabernet guy and all other things TRF).
I've had a few Porsches. Carrera S and 997 Turbo Cabriolet. Wife had a Cayenne too. Great car.
So,like Mark, no kids in car or need to haul stuff.
Macan is a SUV that is almost like a sports car.
Porsche fit and finish is amazing!

70% of all Porsches are still on the road.

Mark,I need to send a few of pics of wifes car which I will take. Wife's car is Blue like your Sub. Great color!

Looking forward to your review!

I only get to drive wifey's when it needs gas!

I have the Cayenne and absolutely love it. Handles amazing and nice and roomy for a 6'4 guy.

I will start this off by saying "I am not a car guy" but I own a Macan S. For me it's a daily driver and I got it back in July of last year and it replaced an Audi A7. Here are my comments taking into consideration that I am not a car guy:

Positives:
- Overall nice vehicle
- Love the agility of the vehicle and the power
- Like the smaller SUV feel of the vehicle and as someone said earlier it's like a sports car with an SUV body

Negatives:
- I find the car systems like the nav and radio to be extremely temperamental. I swear my nav is possessed by the devil! The nav seems intent on taking me off at every exit on the NJ Turnpike to get gas (even though I don't need it) when I drive between my houses in CT and MD. I have talked to the dealer about this and they can't seem to figure out what would be causing this without me taking the vehicle in.
- Radio has gone silent for several minutes after it worked fine and then doesn't play music again till I stop and turn the vehicle off for a while.
- I find the programming of the vehicle to be difficult. I swear I have programmed the key 100x to unlock all the doors but the darn thing still doesn't work. Again will be addressed when taken in for service.
- I felt that the handling in snowy conditions was not good. I did not have winter tires on the vehicle but it was a mess trying to drive in 3-4 inches of snow. My A7 was a million times better even without winter tires.

I almost hate saying anything negative about the vehicle but the small programming issues and the other annoyances get on my nerves. I have had numerous people ask me about the vehicle when I'm stopped at a gas station or at a place like the Starbucks parking lot and sadly I just can't say that "I love it!" If asked today to pick between the Macan and an A7 I would probably go back to the A7.

I like the Cayenne since it's bigger but the rear on the Macan looks better.

I test drove the Cayenne but decided on the Macan S because the Macan had an overall better driving feel for me. For a lack of terminology...the Cayenne felt wishy washy on the road at higher speeds while the Macan felt more agile and sporty.

I went with the Macan S for the same reason. Though the rear cargo area is pretty small, luckily the seats fold down. I thought about getting the GTS but I've heard too many stories about air suspension problems - multiple vehicle types and brands.

I've had no electrical gremlins so far. Very happy with my Macan.

For any golfers out there. Does your golf bag fit in the back of the Macan without putting the seats down?

Just got a email from Porsche Dealer saying there is a Stop Sale in effect do to an issue he neglected to say.... Kinda strange as I've never heard of this, here's a portion of email:

"Good morning Mark,

Unfortunately at this point, there is a stop sale for the Porsche Macan due to a recall.
We expect the car to be back in the market by the end of the month."

Maybe not a big deal but I don't know ?

EDIT: "Porsche issued a voluntary recall for 51,497 examples of the Macan in the US. This includes the base, S, GTS and Turbo trims. The affected vehicles carry build dates between March 4, 2014, and April 14, 2017. According to Good Car Bad Car, Porsche sold 47,143 Macans in the US, so this might affect nearly every Macan on the road." See full article at <https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/sniff-sniff-porsche-recalls-52000-macan-crossovers-for-fuel-odors/>

Paul,

I'm confused, did you think I was not being truthful ? Maybe I misread your reply. In anyevent, the reason is above your post and seems to be fuel filer? related as I didn't read article

No not at all--seemed like there might be a question as to if dealer was telling the truth.

Merely stating there is a stop sale on Macans currently. As I stated.

Ok, I had no doubts about the dealer telling the truth, why would they lie, right?

Easy to check either way, if I was being not truthful or dealer

They can't sell a car if they say " we can't sell you a car." It's not some exotic model or DaytonnaC

As I stated I've never heard of pulling a whole line of cars off the sales lot for a mechanical issue. That's a ton of new sales there're going to miss out on now perhaps.
Hope they get them fix asap

Paul,
Do you have any idea why they would do this?

I have a 2016 Macan S and we haven't had any kind of recall.

Thank you.
Awaiting exhaust note from your new toy!

I honestly don't know the cause. When I was talking with my dealer last week he mentioned he was 'not happy' because there was a stop sale on Macan...so this made sense. I didn't ask as it wasn't on my radar either way. Think it's new units. But can't state.

Good luck to OP with whatever you decide. Don't think you can go wrong.

Thanks and strange because you knew last week but they were ready to sell me Thursday a Brand new model

Article

I had similar issue in my Touareg, they had to take out back seat to reach pump and replace part. Big gas smell

You're right, it was May 1...not last week. Maybe ask YOUR dealer why they didn't know.

Enjoy whatever you end up buying. Macan is a good choice.

I guess there is an issue around the fuel pump filter flange.

http://www.macanforum.com/forum/pors...uel-odors.html

I don't smell anything from mine. I guess will deal with it next service.

Bummer for people waiting for delivery of their new macan. No new car until problem fixed. But no parts right now.

A fried of ours was recently hit by another car running a red light at full speed. The cars is totaled and he has some minor injuries, mostly his leg, it otherwise walked away. So that's a serious plus in my book. From the car nerd side, it's a great and right sized SUV that should work for a lot of people, either side of the the Atlantic or Pacific.

I was looking at a Chevy SS last year and the same thing was the case. There was a recall of a safety issue and they did not allow the dealer to sell them. Is ok on a car like that where most dealers don't even have one in stock. But when it is widespread across models (like the gm ignition switch issue) or hits a popular model it stings.

The stop sale makes sense to me. Older new Porsche 911's (like mine) were release with rear main seal issues and at first Porsche denied it and then we had to pay to have them fixed. Finally they learned how to handle issues that crop up with high performance cars.
