Sounds like you're paying retail which is fine this early.

Forget the price,,,to me that's irrelevant when it comes to these two pieces
What size is your wrist?? So 40m or 43m looks better,,,tried both on??? Do you like the cyclops?? I wear a Deepsea or GMT LN- but like both the models you are deciding on |

I would do it but since I don't have a sd, its a moot point. The question is, what do you want to do. Don't base your answers on our opinions as everyone is different. Do what makes you smile

You know which one is the one. No one else can help when you can't find ten people with the same opinion on either watch.
My experience was that I sat in an AD with an SD4K on my wrist for about half an hour before deciding to get a ND Sub. I liked the idea of the Sea Dweller but, in reality, the Sub seemed like the better package on almost every front. Why spend extra money on a watch that has a less balanced dial, is less comfortable to wear and looked disproportionately thick on my wrist? I can see why many people love it but, for me, it offered nothing more than a Sub and a few things less. The SD50 was a different story. I wasn't sold on the cyclops but I liked everything else. The impression in the metal is of a very different watch in character (if not actual aesthetics) to the Submariner. To me, it offered something different. It isn't really like anything else that Rolex make so it fills a uniques place in my collection. Will the 4k be collectable? Maybe. Will the SD50 be more or less so? Who knows? We have no idea how many there will be. Is gambling on the relative future values of these watches a good reason to choose one? For me, not for one second. I bought the watch that I preferred and now I'm insured from fretting over which one will be considered more collectable/desirable to people I don't know or care about. Get the watch you want to wear the most. It's very liberating. |

Hold off since it is the first year out. I never buy when it is the first year even when it comes to cars, televisions and more. The new gold sub came out sometime in 2012 and it did not have the sunburst dial and the next year it did.

The SD43 will definitely be at MSRP (or even at discount) next year. The only ones saying otherwise are current owners who possibly paid inflated rates and don't want to face that reality. To answer your question though OP, yes, I would sell the SD4K and get the SD43, however not immediately. Sell the SD4K now while you can cash in, then pickup the SD43 next year. You'll be getting a better watch for only a small premium. |

OP had over a year to consider it. Let’s hope he made a decision by now.

Would you Trade a SDK4 for a SD43?
Pretty sure OP has already made his decision but I like this pic.
