I have to admit it, I get duped more than not and by truly shitty copy-cat pieces. Not fakes, but just those ubiquitous copies... even the PM ones. Wow, I feel better now that I have gotten that off my chest. Lol.

Was recently at a large gathering that celebrated stuff we don't discuss here on TRF because . . . well, just because . . . and was a bit surprised at how many Rolex I saw. Quite fun!

I got into a great conversation with a vendor wearing a GMT that he bought full retail for $400+. He'd had it serviced a couple of times and it looked brand new. He was not a WIS, just a guy who was really appreciative of what a great watch he had owned over the years.

I have participated in what I possibly assume was a similar gathering and I often see Rolex watches. Mostly sport models, but there have been others as well. I believe my other pursuit and watches seem to go hand in hand.

I'd say casual people are mostly likely wearing a legit Rolex. I wear it with a ratty t-shirt and gym or polo shorts and flip flops to Home Depot.

In the end it's nearly impossible to accurately judge someone and whether or not their Rolex is real.
^This. On the weekends I'll go out and run quick errands in basketball shorts a t-shirt and flip flops (from doing house work.) I have a nice home and a reasonably nice car (I'm not a car guy, I'd rather spend money elsewhere) but I dress casually and have visible tattoos like others on these forums. I'm sure a lot of people think my watches are fake and that's a good thing in my book

I will not comment on a piece unless I know the person even if it is something quite obscure and rare.

People tend to comment on my pieces in a very light hearted way by a quick one liner but they quickly change the subject to something else.

Most people that I run in to are not huge watch guys and just comment on the look of the piece versus wanting to know my thoughts on watches.
