I see the Hulk there and I love it but then I see it in bright sunlight where it's all sparkly and I hate it. Torn, but I'd get the black. Can't go wrong with a classic.

As an investment? The black one, simply because you won't have to pay a premium. You'll never get that premium back.

But you shouldn't buy it as an investment, buy what you really want and just keep it.

Of course, my advice is to always buy used if you can. That way if you do decide to sell it later, you won't lose as much money.

You'll never make money buying a new watch, unless you can get a ceramic Daytona.

But I think that it is a Rolex is the point because green is Rolex's signature color.
Agree, I bought a Breitling Seawolf with signature yellow dial and an Omega PO with signature orange bezel.

But you have to want it, and if there's not a price rise you'll have paid a £550- premium just to get it now rather than wait. If I wanted it, I'd pay that premium now. Worst case is you pay a bit more and get it now. Best case is you get it now and save £110.

The LV is stunning in the right light, but its not for everyone (and its not for me). I find the bezel particularly flat in the "wrong" (read average UK) light and it doesn't work for me. Looking at it just for its colour (rather than seeing it as a Rolex on my wrist), I was disappointed.

The LN doesn't have the same wow factor as its never "stunning" but its always a classic in all liight and in all occasions. Its just more versatile.

There will be a grey market dealer somewhere near you with a black sub date. Go try one on and see how you feel.

If green is your thing, I'd take the deal at £7,150. If its not, wait and get the black dial at retail. Even if the price goes up 10% to £6,825 between now and getting it, you'll still be £325 better off than if you bought the green onw now.
Only thing I'd add to this is the price rise might be 5%, as AP and PP have chosen on top of their 10% previous rises, so I'd still try to get one from an AD over grey if you can in the next couple of months.

I vote for the hulk, I have been wearing it everyday for over 5 years until I bought a new watch recently. You'll be surprised how well it actually blends it with all the outfits, whether business or casual. And I never got tired looking at the radiance of the dial under the sun!

They're both great, but the anniversary model is getting more distinctive over time and you don't need to worry about shattering the ceramic bezel.

I've never considered the hulk until recently when it started growing on me all of sudden. It looks gorgeous dressed up or down, light or dark. However, I am in need of a daily as I tried to daily my DJ or BLNR and it didn't work. I'm not sure if the hulk will be a good daily compared to the black sub so I will have to choose the black.

For your first, I highly recommend the BLACK (LN).

I'd try them both on and see what one makes you smile the most.

I had black and sold it as it just didn't pop enough colour wise. Ive never bought the green as I feel it's just a bit too green. However the green is definitely more special.

BLNR is more up my street, so maybe have a look at one if them?

Otherwise if it must be a sub, try them both and pick...you can't go wrong either way.

I have the Hulk, but I also have other watches.
For only one watch, the choice is tougher, as black is more versatile.
The black actually dresses up very nicely.
Hulk green sunburst dial is one of my all time favorite dials and overall its a more fun and interesting watch than plain black.
Touch choice, but I can say confidently having owned both, there is no wrong
answer here...

As an investment neither, as a first Rolex I'd get the SubC account black is more versatile unless you absolutely love green or it's your favorite color.

I like the LN, but wouldn't buy it. I love the LVc and bought it.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Wouldn't pay a premium, have some patience, order and wait for it. If you want the Sub Date, i'd take the LV.

I have an oris divers watch with a black face which is another reason why I am considering a green face as a change.

Got a call from my local AD yesterday to say that they had a delivery of a black Sub. So some how after ringing round for two days and with no takers it came to my turn. After putting my name down less than 2 weeks ago and being told it would be about a year wait I have finally got my first Rolex. Pleased I went for the black face in the end. Nothing better than seeing your own name on that Rolex card and knowing that hard work pays off!

I am over the moon!

Thanks for all your help!

I finally purchased my first lifetime Rolex last month. When considering which options and which watch I should ultimately choose, I realized it was very important to be honest with myself and to determine was I going to buy one Rolex and then stop? Or would I allow myself to purchase another down the road? I came to the realization that I am not going to be a "collection" guy, but I am going to allow myself a second Rolex. This decision greatly affected my decision on which Rolex to buy first ... which was a DJ41 with a blue dial/jubilee band.

I already knew at the time of that first purchase that my second Rolex would be the Hulk. I much prefer the Hulk over the basic black.

I would encourage you to have the same internal conversation with yourself. How many will you end up with? The answer to that question should help you make a decision.

Both are amazing watches but I am of the belief that a classic Black Sub date is the best first Rolex to own and very likely the only you will ever need.

HULK HULK HULK! I say go for the special one. If you don't like it you can easily flip it for a regular sub. Black subs are boring me already. That green sub is exciting and crispy!

Have both, love both. The LN is my Grail and the LV is my zombie apocalypse watch.

I could live with either as a one and only; I don't subscribe to the theory that the green is difficult to match with your attire.

There's no right or wrong answer here. Try and see both and go for the one that sings to you loudest.

My girlfriend had Jeremy Kyle on tv the other day and the moron on there had a green watch on, I couldnt make out if it was a LV but seeing how it looked has put me right off :)

I honestly believe that most of the LV's attraction is its restricted supply and the 'want what you cant have' mentality much like the Daytona C etc

Try to look past the resale value and restricted supply and buy what you want on your wrist

By the same token look past trash TV when choosing your watch, that show is just the worst.

For a black diver, get the new SD43.

For a sub, get the LV-C. IMO.
