I'm not a fan of diamonds at all so I would definitely go with Romans if it were my watch, classic and timeless
The diamond dial originally spoke to me more, but the more I look at the roman dial, the more I think that variant is for me.

This is exactly the problem I've noticed with the diamond dial. The yellow gold case, with the yellow gold bezel, with the practically yellow gold face absolutely drowns out the diamonds and makes it look like there's no markers. That doesn't happen with the roman dial.

With a black face, I'd do diamond markers, all-day, everyday. Coralfarmer84's variant above shows why. That's beautiful!

Not a bit. In fact, if anything, I'm far too flashy as it is! In other words, if I were to get the diamond dial, people that know me wouldn't be a bit surprised.

Both are fantastic, don,t think one is better than the other. I have never been a fan of diamonds on a watch worn by men but this one blew my socks off.

That's fantastic. Is that the lighter, linen-colored dial?

Hahaha. Awesome. I am not too flashy myself, perhaps on the conservative side. But love people who express themselves anyway they like and don't fall into the norms defined by the society.

For me Romans. Would be a tough call between the blue and olive dials.

I just configured my own dream DD40 and it has Romans. You've made a fantastic choice you won't regret. Enjoy!

Diamonds

Roman numerals. The mixture of beveled and completely flat markers makes the watch change everytime you look at it.

I'm VERY lucky. I knew she was the one because when we first met, she wore a two-tone Datejust, which she bought with with her own money.
