OP, I enjoy reading many of your threads. But I feel you may literally earn the name "Chopped Liver" after starting what is essentially a( "hate")call it what you wish thread. Not in the spirit of what this forum is about, IMO. Hopefully this is short lived. No offense meant.

I'm glad we all don't have the same tastes. Our watch selections would be very boring!

This thread should be closed down, how could you expect something constructive to evolve from a hate thread? You've shared your story about how you bought the BLNR for the wrong reasons and now you've sold it, good for you, now move on. It's not the watch's fault, but only yours. There are plenty of purchase advice threads where someone can say they don't like a specific model, or if you don't like it then don't look. An anti thread, on a forum where are so many members enjoying a specific model, is just such a bad idea. If anything, you should have started a thread about not buying a watch for the wrong reasons, like you did.

The most hating in this thread so far is this

Read the OP again

Also your advice "if you don't like it then don't look" does apply to you too, yet you feel the need to comment.

Calling the blue in the bezel "gimicky" is slightly laughable (as others have said). Would that make the blue and the red in the pepsi "gimicky"?

Not sure how Chopped Liver is commensurate with starting a hate thread.

Read the OP again, it's not a hate thread. I went to great lengths to explain that in the OP and in my apology to Rob. I do not hate the BLNR; I don't hate many things, only racism and beetroot but that's another story.

Another one that needs to read the OP and my apology post to Rob. If anything, the thread is likely to get closed because some are choosing to turn this thread into something I've clearly said that it isn't and should not be.

I actually said in the very first paragraph of the OP that I bought it for the wrong reasons. Did you miss that part or have you chosen to ignore it?

I'll say it again: it's a thread to enable those to come out of the closet and admit they're not fans of the BLNR. Is that clear enough?

It's only going to be a train wreck if some keep insisting it's a hate thread. Nowhere have I said (nor has anyone else) that they hate the BLNR.

Please stop trying to turn the thread into something it isn't.

It's a great watch and I can see the appeal, but there are simply other watches that I'd rather have, namely the SubC Date and DaytonaC. I do get the hype phenomena as well. The first time an AD offered me one, I almost felt compelled to buy it! It's a beauty and if resources were unlimited, I'd have one as well.

Sums it up almost perfectly

It IS a great watch, it IS a beauty and there IS almost a compulsion to buy one. It's almost like it's something out of a Harry Potter film that's been enchanted or something.

It is a great watch but it doesn't do it for me like the standard ln. Now when I try on an lvC, my heart skips a beat lol in a good way.

Was never a fan looking at pictures. Finally last month saw one in AD, tried it on and didn't really care for it. Nice watch but polished center links aren't really my thing. Clearly we need the coke colors already. Tried on the sd4k and it was love.

I've never been enamored with the stark coldness of the black and blue. Combine that with the sterile ceramic insert and it is a recipe four a soulless timepiece that is far more jewelry that work horse. At any rate it's not for me and that is all that matters imho. Now with the purchase of my SkyD, GMTs serve little purpose in my collection.

I managed to resist very easily when faced with three BLNRs for sale at a grey dealer locally. It totally leaves me cold, but we all have different tastes. I'm not keen on the ceramic Daytona, either, as I think the previous version looks better.

the truth is that scarcity does tend to make someone want something they otherwise would not if it was readily available. I sometimes get the urge to get something because its hard to get and start thinking i would be stupid to pass it up, but in the end I would not be getting what I truly want.

I was reminded of this when trying on watches with my wife yesterday. The PP salon had quoted 5 year wait for a women's nautilus when i inquired a few weeks ago so i knew it would be hard to find. My AD yesterday pulled one out of the safe and offered it to my wife. She didn't like it at all and passed. I probably would have bought it for her if she wasn't with me as i would be afraid of missing an opportunity. I would have bought the hype not her taste. Thats sort of the point of the thread.

On topic: I prefer the GMT LN as i think its more classic rolex.

This. I am a fan of nearly every GMT.

I hate the "Batman" nickname with a passion.

Still love the BLNR after having it for some time now. About the only thing I would change is the way the lugs/bracelet transition.

Instead of thinner lugs I would like a fatter bracelet.

that goes without saying and it's the second worst nickname. The James Cameron watch is worse.

when an AD refers to it as the "batman" watch though, it makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

I love Pepsi. I love Coke. I love all black.

I want to like BLNR...but I just don't like the black and purpl-ish blue together.

I've had many romances over the years and none got as close to me as my BLNR. It was a steamy 12 month affair but ultimately we ran out of things to say. I realised our time together was over and we parted. I miss her (yes it is a she) but wouldn't ask her to take me back. The divorce was painless and my full investment in the relationship was returned to me.

On to a new love soon - SD43.

I prefer watches with colour and I wanted to like the BLNR.

It was hyped pre and post release and whilst I don't have any negative things to say about it, it just wasnt for me.

I went in expecting to buy it but ended up buying the bluesey (sub).

The batman is a very versatile watch and I love the GMTs, ownin a Pepsi it felt like the natural upgrade / addition.

Just something about the watch I didn't take to but that's just me. I happen to think it's one of the most versatile models in the rolex range. Superb watch if you fall in love with it.

I wanted to love it but it just sits in the case. I loved the LN and wore it daily for everything from work to play. But the black/blue is just so so ...

Now the Pepsi is perfection to me

Okay I'll bite (guess I would make a lousy fish) I gave the 16750 to my graduate. I Thought i would love/live with the new exp 2016. That only lasted 2 months, as I missed the date/gmt function. So I went shopping for a new one, I tried to like the the blnr but it was so different from the old gmt I couldn't so ended up with the the epx II. But I am a one at a time guy.
