Why don't Rolex just combine the Submariner and the GMT to create the ultimate watch?

As cited earlier in a link by another member, Omega has done a Daytona, with a Date, as a Diver, with a GMT function. I don't think it set any sales records among Omega fans...

I agree that further segmenting could dampen overall sales as customers can often defer a decision when there are too many choices. The problems the industry is having would more likely indicate model consolidation/pruning.

As cited in last year's Swiss Watch export report that showed a continued reduction in exports -
The aura of old-world luxury, on which its advertising culture is based, has an increasingly limited appeal in a tech-driven world where the younger generation is, for the first time since World War II, poorer than its parents."

A chrono would also be helpful. Maybe Rolex could release a Subtona-Master???
Ok, I chuckled at this one.

Get a 44mm Breitling Chronomat GMT ... 500m water resistant, GMT, Date & Chronograph.

It's a Sub/GMT & Daytona in one

Bidirectional always for GMTs and unidirectional for a modern day Sub.
You wish for a unidirectional GMT Sub with 24 hour markers and 60 minute counter on a hybrid bezel ? How many clicks ?

The 120 clicks makes it easier to use as a timing bezel with a 60 minute counter giving you 30 secs per click.

The 24 hr bezel with 24 clicks is much more useful when reading the GMT hand but the 120 click bezel would make it difficult to read a quick time zone change. It is possible of course with a 24 click GMT which allows you to set the main markers to an timing accuracy of 2.5 minutes, 48 clicks would be more ideal since you would be able to handle half hour time zones AND giving you a resolution of 1.25 minutes for timing purpose
Basically what I am trying to say is that the core functionality of a true traveller's GMT is the 2nd time zone complication and a 120 clicks are suboptimal for that role

✓ The GMT Sub would be more expensive to buy and to service

✓A GMT Sub would be thicker therefore less versatile

✓Forget trying to market the Sub GMT to the post millenials generation ( Born >1995). These bunch of people are super tech savvy and will not rely on a wristwatch for GMT functions

Imagine Secret Agent 007 Sean Connery on a secret mission in full scuba diving gear swimming underwater across different time zones wearing a GMT Sub . Rather than acting all macho and cocky turning the unidirectional 24 hr bezel accurately, I'd think James Bond would rather prefer to stay alive and check how much oxygen is left in the tank !

You are just hands-down brilliant!

Same reason car companies don't create an SUV that handles like a coupe, does 0-60 in 3 seconds, and gives 50MPG.

someone should let Elon know....

In Ludicrous mode, they're being regularly clocked in the 2.6 to 2.8 secs 0-60
