I was like you and had 4/5 Omega and no Rolex. I went down to one Omega and 4 Rolex and 3 Tudor. I've added a couple of vintage Omegas back to the collection since.

For me it was a brief flip from a Seamaster to a Sub. Loved the Seamaster but it was a bit too thick for me. Omega and Rolex are comparable to me and would go with whatever particular watch appealed to me. However, I would never pay anything close to retail for an Omega as their prices take a huge dive in the secondary and grey markets.

I love Rolex, but recently purchased a Speedy Pro, which I have always loved. I am happy to have both watch brands in my small collection.

I love both brands and I also started with Omega but also ended with an Omega (assuming I won't purchase another watch, which isn't realistic). I don't see it as a shift, more a journey.

Omega MSRP don't hold up

My first expensive watch was a subc. Grey market was around $6900 to $7000. Bought it from an AD for $7500 and NO tax in a 8.25% tax State. That's over $600 in savings. Next bought an Omega Seamaster. Retails at $6600. Bought brand new from online grey market at just under $4000 and no tax. Brand new huge box all accoutrements. There is a significant difference between approx $550 savings and $2600! The Omega I received was beautiful and remains with me today.

Whether you feel the two watches are equivalent or not is up to you. Rolex commands a premium price. I have no complaints about either watches quality. I DO however find that the Rolex is much more comfortable to wear.

I have had a few Omega watches. Still have Three in the collection. They are great watches with no issues whatsoever. We also have 5 Rolex watches (3 for him 2 for her) and I like them just as much.

Great movements and very accurate.

I've owned a couple of Omegas for several years and would say they are just as robust, accurate, and well made as Rolex from my experience. When I bought my Seamaster Pro, the Sub 16610 was going for over 2x the price of the Omega so it wasn't a difficult choice. I also never liked the cheap clasp on the Rolex bracelet. Likewise, when the updated AT 8500 came out, I found it more attractive and unique than a DJ and also thought it was a better value.

With the recent explosion of variations and higher prices I'm not as excited about the Omega brand as much anymore but they do make some great watches and you can always get a deal on them.

I added a Sub 114060 a couple years ago and wear it equally as much as the others.

I've owned many (many) of both. Omega is just as good as Rolex. They are just very different companies. Buy what you like. That's it.

I haven't had any QC issues with either brand. They are both excellent, in very specific and different ways. I think where they start to fall apart is when each brand stretches well beyond their classical design language and goes for way more money (I'm looking at you, candy gem bezel Rolex and anything with diamond indices) and some of the more awful Speedy editions.

Both brands have some excellent and not so great offerings.

When classically focused (both vintage and modern), I think they each shine in different ways and I appreciate both for their respective strengths.

The speed master pro is up there with the best, I've had two in the past but I went off the brand when they started the endless limited edition theme James bond seamasters.

Meanwhile, my GMT2 Pepsi is in Dallas for service. I've been wearing my Omega Speedmaster for two weeks straight.

I wanted a ceramic Seamaster and in the metal I felt it didn't match Rolex steel, comfort, feel or finish. The Omega's thickness is also a negative for me when comparing a Daytona to Speedmaster. Omega has some good looking time pieces but just not for me.

I've tried loving modern Omegas but the simple truth is that they don't put a smile on my face when I wear them compared to not only Rolex but other brands I've worn over the years.

In fact, I just sold off my last 145.022-69 two weeks ago, and I have no plans on getting another Omega.

YMMV.

Doesn't get ad much wrist time as it used to, but still puts a smile on my face when I do strap it on.

Well, I used to be a huge Omega fan. At one point I had four, and over the years has been a total of 10. Now, I have none! I even had two Speedies (at different times). For some reason, I just could never find one that really suited me for the long term, so they just eventually all went. Very good short term experiences with them, and many that I got from the local Omega Boutique here in Vancouver. Staff and service second-to-none. I think that is the real reason I stayed with Omega for so long. No regrets, and they make some beautiful watches.

Now, my passion is really for Rolex. I have two OP34 models. And I also have a Tudor Black Bay 36. I am waiting to get my next Rolex, and possibly two in the next year or so.

i had 2 SMPc's and sold them both. Now I only have the Speedy Pro.
MY opinion: The Omegas are not really at par with quality with the Rolex.
You can feel the difference.

Plus, who wants to buy the Green side or the Pink side of the Moon?
they already covered Black, White, Grey..:)

Both brands co-exist very well.
