I fly frequently for business and had people comment a number of times while flying, often someone sitting next to me or across the isle.

Nowhere. Though i work at being unapproachable. Unless its my choice to engage I hang back. If someone insists on engaging i leave, if, as in an airplane i can't leave, I tell them to leave me alone as I have work to do.

Few times, most were negative encounters though.

Only from the wife who comments " is that a new watch?".

Once in line at the Atlanta airport, the TSA agent commented and started a friendly conversation about my tt Sub serti dial. That was it (in 30 years of wearing from all gold, to all ss, and tt models) and fine with me.

Never yet. That’s kind of the way I want it too.

I think I've gotten 3 comments, ever. One (while I was wearing my Tudor Prince Date) was from a guy who was really looking for a means to start up a conversation about the Breitling he was wearing and very, very proud of. One was from a tailor and she just said "nice watch" about my GMT-IILN as she was doing my cuff. A couple weeks ago, a waiter said "nice watch" about my Datejust (SS, fluted, jubilee, black diamond dial). My response, each time, "thanks." In the latter two encounters, the parties giving the compliment weren't wearing watches. I would have said something like "yours as well" otherwise, no matter what they were wearing. I'd have felt like a jerk to say much else beyond a "thank you."

Really, I prefer when no one notices. I'm happy to talk watches, but I wear my watches because I enjoy them, not to fish for complements.

I've gotten a few comments when wearing my different watches. However, it seems that I'm the person usually commenting on what people have on their wrist. I have a tendency to look at people's wrists to see what them have on. It's especially something when I comment on someone's Rolex or high end watch while I'm working as a cop in uniform. Some look at me in shock wondering how I could know about the item they have on their wrist. Little do they know I might have one or two of the same thing at home. :)

Can't forget the time I was trying out clothes and I had the best salesman ever hand me the clothes.
Nobody else has ever come close to that guy. Running around the store piling up clothes he thinks would suit me while I was trying them on.
After maybe 30 minutes the guy says "Your watch, it's magnificent! What is that?"
I said it's a Rolex GMT-Master, so called a Root Beer (had my 16713).
He replies with that it's the most striking watch he has ever seen.
I told him to check it out! It's an amazing piece!

I sure hope that guy bought one for himself or some day will.

Also can't forget the time I was trying on an Oris diver (amazing piece) and the salesguy at the Oris stand says "But sir... You have a Rolex.." with a very confused face.
I just told him "Forget about that old piece, this Oris is amazing!"
I didn't buy it unfortinetly. Maybe I should've.

Never once has anyone commented on it. I wear long sleeves due to a medical condition. I'd probably be embarrassed if someone actually did comment on the watch.

I've probably got more comments about my fitbit than any Rolex I've worn.

From what I remember once while at Apple waiting for a repair and once from the cashier at a local Home Depot

My Rolex just once at church a friend asked: "that is a sharp watch, what is it?"

My Nomos a few times, my Tudor D+D 4-5 times, My Sunnto a bunch of times. My speedmaster moon only twice by people also wearing the same watch.

At home when my daughter tells me to quit rotating my wrist to look at the dial on my silly leprechaun watch. 😜

The girls preferred my Omegas, the cougars enjoy the Rolex.
