It’s not just the movement. It’s the stickdial combined with the movement, which makes this GMT extremely rare.

Those of us that bought them at regular price in 07-08 are not worried about this and are also not selling. I have plenty of examples of items that never went back down to the low price in the last 20 years. That 2nd owner 911E I passed on in 2000-2001 for $7800 never corrected to that low price after I missed out. When will I be able to add that to my collection at that price again? Never. It never got that low even in 08 during the market drop. If the M3186 ever drops to $5k again I’ll buy an extra since I wear mine all the time.

The Rolex AD in South Coast Plaza has NO NOS GMT M3186 !

ebay is the way !

Quick question...

Do the Rolex movements have serial numbers on them to prevent from being swapped?

What's to stop someone with a late Z or early M series 16710 with a 3185 and swap it out with a 3186 from a 116710?

Why is everyone jumping on the 16710 again?

How is a 3186 less reliable?

Yes Rolex keeps track of the case serial and the main plate serial number. This is one of the first things Rolex inspects when taking in a watch at an RSC.
