This guy is pretty wired in with Rolex and I know he was one of only a handful of AD salespeople nationwide that Rolex paid to travel to NYC last year for a preview of some Rolex plans going forward as well as some additional training on the Tudor lineup.

I asked him how long his list is and he said 25 people. I asked him what that equates to in time in his opinion...like, how many does he anticipate getting per year and he said "not sure...but for example with the Stainless steel Sky Dweller, last year he only received 2. But now approx. 2 years into the Ceramic Daytona's being available, he is getting like 8 or 9 per year." He said "I actually don't think it's going to be terrible. Rolex has production running 7 days a week now in Switzerland because they see the whole world economy being on an up-tick right now so they want to get these out the door"

He thought he would see his first Pepsi GMT land in his store sometime in June or July and hopes to get about 8-10 per year.

So, now that I am number 26 on the waiting list, I guess I am 3 years out. So, I'll just go on living my life and if I get a call someday then I'll decide if I want it. Doesn't cost anything to be on a list so whatever...

I find it amusing that I met, dated, got engaged and then married my wife all in less time than it will take to get through a waiting list for a watch. What a joke.

yeah, but buying a Rolex is a serious commitment and should be carefully thought through.

I inquired at my local AD and they said they had so many people that they weren't even taking any more names. So much for that.

For Basel 2017, I wanted a new SS Pepsi as my first Rolex, but it didn't happen so I bought a BLNR to hold me over. I kept in touch with the manager of my AD who sold me the BLNR and dropped in every couple months to visit briefly. In December 2017, I brought up Basel 2018 and told him how badly I wanted a SS Pepsi if they came out with one. Then the weekend before Basel, I paid him another visit and asked to be put on the list if they did indeed release it. Sure enough, the following Wednesday they did and I was first on the list. The manager told me he gets calls everyday for people asking about it, and he simply tells them that with the demand and the limited supply, there's no way he can get them one. He said that all the new Basel models are strictly going to previous customers. Unfortunately, just having the disposable income to buy a new Rolex isn't enough anymore. It takes a good relationship with the AD to secure the latest and greatest.

GMT Pepsi waiting list

First off, i think the concept of a list is fluid. There is NO one master list and AD has no obligation to follow the list in exact order. The ADs are not bound to stay in order even if you are listed first.

Its not what place you are on this imaginary pepsi list but a "list" of who has spent the most that also want the pepsi.

Even if you are listed number 1, if a well-moneyed long time client comes into the store today and has spent more $$$$ and will continue to spend more $$$$ than the person who is listed number 1, then that long time client will jump the queue and get the pepsi.

If you're number number 1 AND you're also top dog $$$$$$$ then yes you will be the first to get it!

No AD will sell pepsi to local or non-local, one time spender, who just happened to call early as soon as pepsi was announced over a long time big spender in the store.

that's just my opinion and reality

And this is just my opinion, I agree with you 100%.
I stopped at a Tourneau store 2 days ago in Naples Florida. They said that corporate told them not to start a list and that they would decide at the appropriate time “who qualifies to purchase” the new Pepsi.
This store had no SS sports models and the sales people had poor knowledge of the Rolex brand. That was my takeaway after spending less than 10 minutes in the store.

"Who qualifies to purchase" twists my capitalist soul into an angry little knot.

Got on my local AD list for Pepsi, there were just a couple of people ahead of me. Not holding my breath as they are not a big AD so probably getting little inventory / likely a long wait

Anyone ever tried to give their AD a little ‘present’ in order to get what they want

Nope. Refuse to play that game. If anything, the AD should be giving you a present for keeping them in business.

I think the 'present' ADs want is for you to spend a lot of $$$ on other other items like less desirable PM models in order to get hot new items like the Pepsi.

This. Buy a PM at MSRP and you can pretty much choose white or black Daytona or BLRO on the spot.
