The blue one in stainless steel, both in 36 and 41mm, is one hell of a watch. 36mm on a Jubilé, 41mm on an Oyster bracelet. Has been on my list for a while but there will be a GMT coming up first in the near future..

The white one really pops and gets my vote.. Try the 116234 with blue dial should they have it at your AD - that blue is stunning as well

Good luck with the decision and cant wait to see the pics

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (21) Champagne
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (29) White

I see a number of people have commented that the white dial is more legible, especially as it relates to aging and vision. I am currently 29 years old and have good vision (I don't wear glasses). For someone like me, would legibility still be an issue down the road (for example, in 20-30 years)? I know this is a watch forum, not a medical forum, but I wanted to hear what older members have experienced firsthand with watch legibility.

Champagne

I vote for Champagne. A few notes:

1. I prefer champagne with the TT because it coordinates with the yellow gold nicely. The white looks stark to my eye.
2. Some of those who voted for white are showing stainless steel datejusts. Totally different. I think the white is great on stainless, but not so much on the TT.
3. As far as legibility, I don’t see that as a major factor for a 29 year old guy. I’m quite a bit older than 29 and legibility isn’t an issue for me. (I have the TT Datejust with champagne dial.)

Bottom line: Choose the color that speaks to you.

My eyes have always been an issue for me. If you protect your eyes going forward, get what speaks to you.

Personally, I'm looking at the rose gold DJ so white makes the RG pop.

I've owned both. Ended up with white. Dresses up well. However, champagne is the classic!!

Yep. White over champagne but silver over both. I changed out my champagne. I think you'll get tired of the champagne. I love the silver.

Do you wear prescription or reading glasses? Also, does your DJ have lume on both the hands and the indices? Furthermore, would you say the lume on the current models makes the champagne dial significantly more legible than, say, the champagne dials from the 1980s?

Interesting! Why did you get tired of the champagne? And why do you think white is less likely to get boring?

Yes, I wear prescription eyeglasses. The lume helps with legibility regardless of dial color, especially in the dark. ;-) I understood from your original post that you were looking at current models, not 1980's models.

Champagne all the way. It's the quintessential Rolex imo.

I also have a question about the newest 36mm DJ's. Are ref 126233's fairly easy to get a hold of?

White - as noted

The champagne is hard to read (although it does look nice). I have a 18k Rolex Date from early 1990's and it is not easy to read sometimes. My picture contradicts my statement but under normal conditions not close up it can be challenging at times.

How much do you think the lume on both the hands and indices would help?
