Anyone have an AK on a leather strap? I just picked up a brand new blue dial AK today and I am thinking it might look interesting with leather.

What year did the dial switch from Precision to Superlative Chronometer?

As I understand it,that was August of 2007 with the change to the 3130 caliber movement.

What a nice watch! I'm thinking about getting the same one. I'm stuck between this one and the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. How would ou describe your experience with this watch thus far? The Omega is about $1500 cheaper which is an issue for me, but I'm willing to fork out the extra $1500 for the Rolex. My question is: Is it worth it?

I am nostalgic ...
This was my 1st Rolex, when I was still a (broke) med student. A 14000 with black dial. Overall look didnt move so much. I think that's a big part of Rolex success: same visual identity over time. |

It maybe of the cheaper end of the Rolex price scale but the white faced ones in some of the photo's are very classy with a nice clean look.

Air King
This is my first Rolex (the second has yet to be purchased). Purchased from a well known TRF member. I really like the look of this watch and the Air King is a perfect size for my small wrist. I had it overhauled and reconditioned by EMW in Arizona. It was in good shape when I got it, but he did a great job making it look new.

My Air King
Here's mine, just back from it's first service. At a cost of £295 as it needed a couple of wheels replaced due to 'excessive wear' ! (It was quite noisy and didn't run for more than 2hrs)
It's a 1995 14000 model. A nice dark 'gun metal' gray dial and is now runing like a dream again. ![]() |

Is this an Air-King?
Hi,
See picture in http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=115617 Is that an Air King? My Dad purchased it in the 1950's. The wording below ROLEX was somehow cleaned away by the "watch repair" guy 20 years ago. It isn't worn now, but still runs. It's a manual wind model. Not perpetual. Thanks. Ktinca |

Latest and (one of the) greatest!
Yannis,
Thanks for the thread and all the cool pics everyone....love that new white faced with the blue/green lume! Always been impressed with the history, tradition, and elegant simplicity of this timepiece. So much so, I had to adopt one! ![]() --Paul ![]()

I love the Air King. My 14010 was my first serious timepiece and it started my fascination and interest in horology. I've acquired a couple more timepieces but I still smile the most when I put on this iconic watch. Personally, it's the best looking engine-turned bezel in the Rolex line (although it's only the Air King, Date, Datejust that has been equipped with such). It's a U series acquired 2001. 34mm fits my 6 1/4 inch wrist perfectly. But the best feature of the 14010 IMO is the beautiful face. The white face, roman numerals and small details make the watch appear bigger than what it really is. Hasn't been serviced yet but keeps excellent time. Best is that the power reserve everytime I use it would exceed 52 hours. Can't ask for anything more...

Air King
Jun: I have to agree that your Air King is very distinctive. The white face and Roman Numerals sets it apart (to me) from other Air Kings. Don't get me wrong, I still like the Air King styling/line (and enjoy my TT as well), but your watch is an eye catcher.

I am considering an Air King with a blue dial, I really like the simplicity of the Air King, unmistakeably Rolex. I am debating either the Air King or a Sintra, both same price. So we'll see.

Hi All,
I am a new owner of this beautiful Airking. Really glad that I bought this model due to the fact that it looks so classy with the white dial and yet sporty with the engine turned bezel. I hope it will last til I pass it down to my son. ![]() ![]() |

Damn.. Those are some pretty sweet AK's. Ive been looking..and leaning towards the classic TT csj - but.. these AK's may be something I might want to consider..for my 1st Real Rolex.
Thanks guys for your pics....! |
