The AD I deal with is asking grey market prices, or even over for the popular Rolex models. That's a new strategy for you. It doesn't matter if he suspects you are a flipper or a genuin customer, he's asking Grey Market prices. Are ADs allowed to do that?

Some AD's know they sell to flippers no problem, they just give them 5-10% to work with. they ask just under market value from flippers and greys. On models that they suspect are even going higher they may even ask for above market value. Also they may do that if they know your not a flipper, but really want the watch.

Was offered a Daytona C today under the condition that they engrave my name on the caseback... I countered with them keeping the box & papers to no avail.
I walked... and will be looking for a new AD this week. |

Most Hongkong ADs stopped the practice by doing the flipping themselves. I'm not kidding.

No general practice but I know my AD checks these forums, and I'm pretty sure that if they saw a hot model for sale that they had sold recently you wouldn't be getting anything good anytime soon!
It's a pretty good stick and carrot to not flip hot models quickly, especially in the UK. |

When I recently bought my Explorer from the AD, he made me write my name on the card (I was given a blank card on a previous purchase a few years ago) and some of the stickers were removed.
This was ok with me as I dislike flippers and grey dealers. Because of them I cannot get whatever model I want at msrp. Having said that I would not like to have the AD keep the warranty card. That it is not right, Rolex should find a better way of dealing with this!

I have never had an AD tell me what I could do with any of my Rolex watches.

'Q. What are general AD practices now to keep you from flipping '
A. The most succesful thing that is working for the dealers in my case, is not having any watches to sell to me. It's very effective. |

I was asked by my HK AD to keep the watch and not sell it immediately at the greys there or they will not sell me some more SS pieces. To show my good faith, I left the box for my third piece.

Great, rolex boxes now sell for about HK$1500 at greys and on Facebook.

Bought new SD43 from AD. Bracelet sized, most stickers removed and given copy of warranty card. They'll keep the original for a year.
Not a problem for me as not a flipper but I can understand why some are frustrated. |

Not the case in the states. My latest purchase I kept everything but the coffin (forgot to ask for it, but they would have given it to me) They did remove stickers, because why the hell would I want to sit and do that at home.

Most ADs will gladly buy back any watch they sold. Happens all the time in this market. Rather than flip to an unknown if the watch is not for you, just does not work, take it back to your AD and trade for something else. Funny how well things work when everyone is on the same page and upfront.

I would have done that deal. I would just keep the watch and enjoy it and not even worry about scratches. I wish more ADs would do that. I bought a RO in solid gold in the 1980's from Tiffany's and the very nice salesman offered free engraving which I did and thought how neat is this.

MY AD told me. Just make sure you don't sell the watch to others. So I put it on my wrist
