Not only that, but we wouldn't have a steel Pepsi, a larger Sub with tapered lugs aka SD43, a steel SkyD or a YM42 otherwise. They must be listening to some extent.

ytsethunder I’m sorry if my email wasn’t clear. I specified Google as the search medium and referred to the google algorithm. In your reply you bring the dialogue back to the rolex.com website coding. My comments were focused upon search results and why “rolex hulk” garners an organic result of the 116610LV on the rolex official website. This is because “google” AI search engine has concluded that users who typed “rolex hulk” who then clicked the rolex internal site (not homepage) webpage for the 116610LV, ratified to google that this seemingly unrelated term of hulk must be a colloquial term for the 116610LV and therefore the algorithm adopts this phenomenon in future searches automatically. This concept and “learning” aspect of google is broad brush. I mean what I am writing here isn’t exclusive to Rolex but, rather how google AI works. So, it won’t be that you will find hidden meta code in the rolex.com code that says hulk, rather that the AI engine in google has deemed rolex hulk to mean 116610LV through the interaction of many users who looked down the page search results and clicked the rolex page over and over (different users). The google algorithm learns this and basically says to itself “ahhhh rolex hulk really means 116610LV, let me show that page higher up the search order”. Hope that helps.

Thanks - wondering whether it’s just keyword associations in the Rolex site itself, or indeed they have drawn these associations themselves. That’d inform as to whether they’ve been reading the forums!

They pay as much attention to TRF as Harvey Weinstein paid to "No means no!".

Of course they do. Where else could you get a focus group with all this knowledge, experience and admiration for the brand, giving opinions, aspirations, experiences , information and advice etc etc FREE OF CHARGE. It would be foolish not to pay attention.
P.S, paying attention doesn't mean they listen.

It's also funny that coke, pepsi, root beer, nipple dial, etc. all seem to be ok to most, but a super hero makes for a sad day.

If I could choose I'd probably opt to eliminate the nicknames, but overall I don't really care and I feel bad for all that get so worked up about it. Life is short, too short to get upset over silly childlike nicknames.

X2 this couldn’t be said better. It’s simply just what is current in pop culture that usually frames these sort of things. Super heroes are immensely popular among all ages these days, and I myself am among those fans.

Oh and to the people who are claiming “perpetual adolescence” is the issue please tell me that to my face after I’ve had a long day of surgery, and I causally use the term hulk with my AD because my mind is too overloaded to use pesky meaningless numbers. Ironically my AD wouldn’t know the reference numbers either.

So funny you mention a long day at work and being a super hero fan. I went to film school, switched to communications and now work in media production & marketing.

I started doing some freelance work recently at one of my client's office. The other day one of the employees there said to me, "since you work in photo and video and have a background in film, you must be a huge film buff. What are some of your recent favorite movies?"

I laughed and said between working 12 hours days and almost every other minute of the day taking care of my kids... If I get a couple hours to watch a new Marvel movie I'm happy! I couldn't imagine the pressures of being a surgeon.

Call me adolescent or childish or whatever, I'm exhausted and the avenger movies are amazing! Perfect escape. Christopher Nolan's Batman movies are also incredible. Otherwise not a huge fan of DC.

Anyway, bottom line, people need to relax. Nicknames or not, who cares. Not a big deal people.

The end of Rolex is nigh the day they do a co-branding promotion with a soda company. Nicknames rub me the wrong way, but that's just my personal preference. I could get behind a nickname if it actually had something to do with the watch. I always refer to my GMT Master as a BLRO, not Pepsi. Now if they referred to it as "Pan Am" I'd be onboard. There's a connection there. Just one of my foibles I suppose. Call 'em whatever you want. I'll do the same.

Same here

Amen! Glad to see another fellow fan on the forum. I’m a die-hard marvel fan as well, and rarely pay attention to DC, but I agree that the Nolan Batman trilogy was superb.

They most definitely follow the forums. As someone mentioned... It's free information directly into the community! It'd be crazy not to follow along and gather Intel
