Not a fan of the flat dial and a hug fan of yellow gold. Subtle is for sheep

I vote for the WG. Those look stunning with the blue. Both look great but I prefer the WG.

Look at these two words next to each other:

Gold/Subtle.

Look at them again

Gold Subtle
Gold Subtle
Gold Subtle

That $h!t ain’t right.

You want to wear Gold? Look to History - The Egyptians, the Greeks, The Romans...All adorned loud, obnoxious, in-your-face wonderful Yellow Gold. I’ll follow the Tut-ster

Look

I was between a YG and a TT Bluesy myself last month. I strongly recommend going to look in person as I found both looked different than in pictures.

My 2 cents: To me getting a white gold sub is spending an extra 20k on a sub that looks really similar to a steel sub, but without the cool Hulk green dial it could have. Now a white gold Day Date on the other hand...

YG Bluesy>Hulk=TT Bluesy>others

White gold is a joke. Yellow gold is the ONLY gold.

Everyone has their own opinion (no surprise). There are different options because we are all different. I went with the smurf over the YG. For a number of reasons. People don’t know what it is. Plain and simple. That’s good for me. Gold has has other properties besides color that I enjoy. (Mostly the weight, but also the subtlety different copper color vs SS).

I find it interesting that some call the blue dial on the smurf flat. It’s not. It’s gloss. What it isn’t is a sunburst - which I love and own in a 16613. I’m really warming up to the smurf as a daily. I knew it would take a while after leaving my hulk.

I've heard that the smurf blue on the white gold isn't as vibrant. Is that because it's a different blue all together or does the yellow gold make it pop more because of the contrast?

Which would you guys choose? I know it's ultimately my decision but I like hearing
Don’t know if it’s been asked....is this an an addition or a one and only? That would the starting point (for me at least) for a decision between these two beautiful pieces.

I was watching the US Open tennis last year, and Bill Murray was there, they showed him on TV probably 20 times during the match. He was wearing an all gold Rolex. I’m not sure if it was a Sub or GMT. Either way, it was stunning! Since then I have been obsessed with an all gold Rolex.
Additionally, I believe my age (46), getting closer to 50, it just looks right!

I think many of us smurf owners didn't buy it to get the 'gold credit' from other ppl. We got it for just the opposite. I got it for its subtlety, versatility, and feel of the WG weight around the wrist.

I have a yellow gold Submariner - 116618 LN. I love the watch. If I'm going to wear gold, it's going to be yellow. If I want a white precious metal, I like platinum.

Honestly though, you can't really go wrong with either watch. Just boils down to your personal preference.

White gold for sure. You’ll never get the same feeling from your SS pieces because the heft of gold is always present. WG will also never get old. I can imagine some would get tired of the more flashy gold.

YG is what I chose. The richness of the YG paired with the mesmerizing blue sunburst dial is hard to beat IMO. It’s not my daily wear piece but gets ample wrist time on weekends and special occasions.

I also love WG and get why so many on TRF go with the 116619. Personally, I just found the YG Sub more fun to stare at.

I associate the yellow gold watches with old out-of-shape guys. I don't see yellow gold on pre-retirees except that a certain younger demographic wears obviously-fake yellow Rolexes.

For me personally I prefer the look of the white gold and blue dial. It has a nice pop to it. The YG is very nice too but if o had to choose my vote goes to WG.

I think that is an extremely hard choice, I would struggle with this too and my choice could change day to day. Best get both.
