That’s awesome Grady! Those two Vietnam unit citations look familiar. I believe those were the two I was authorized to wear when I was with the 25th Infantry. I’ll have to dig them out. Here’s mine.

Those are unit awards that you almost certainly rate if you ever set foot in-country.

My wife and I on my last day of work before retiring from the Air Force. I’m wearing my TT GMT Master on jubilee bracelet. Wish I would have kept it, but I traded it back in 2005 and got a new TT Blue 16613. I still have that one. :) Cheers, Tim

I never set foot in country. I was in from 91 to 96. But I am in awe of those who were there. I wore them proudly while I was assigned to a unit that earned them before my time.

Really cool thread.

You and the missus looking good Tim, hard to believe all the time that has passed! Pushing 20 years since you retired! I've lost track of the reprobates we used to hang out with, the real dregs of the Rolex community. Last I heard the Baron had become a pillar of the community in some one horse Arkansas town if you can imagine that lol. When he escaped FL he headed west, stopped for gas in Arkansas and never left. :) The Baron was the original 'Florida Man'. :)

Richard, the Baron was one of a kind. Sadly, I just heard recently he passed away last month. Someone had seen a post on FB by one of his kids. Not sure the cause, but I think he had been ill for some time. He was a funny guy and a great story teller. He will be missed. Sorry to bring bad news. Cheers, Tim

Ah damn, had no idea. He seemed invincible, he was one of my favorite people ever. He should have written books about his adventures but I guess he was afraid of prison. :)

He will indeed be missed, the world is a smaller place for his passing.

To balance the medals I would need a hip flask of whisky in my inner left hand jacket chest pocket. Helps if there's a chill in the air as it's cold in the UK in November

Thank you for showing us that fine set of medals your father earned....Superb and you should be right proud.. Thank you
Nice, Military Cross on far left?

The journey behind the medals was certainly a tough one

Lance Bombardier / Gun layer 1914 -18

I never met my grandfather and was given his box of brass when I was aged 10, I rediscovered them when I was 20 odd and set about researching his service during the great war, he was wounded amongst others whilst helping others back who were calling out for help from no mans land, he was hit by shrapnel and hospitalized, once the war was over and still suffering from the injury medals were sent out to them who served, on receipt of the medals he proceeded to throw them on the fire in disgust. I made a frame in his honor and mounted his brass .... point of interest is the solid brass bar (the wounded stripe) the miniature medals are period dress medals that he would have been entitled to.... the Rolex's are mine.... his proud Grandson,

A fellow gunner!

I donated my medals to the Royal Artiller Association. If you have a few details of his service I can arrange access to look up the hand written regimental war diaries.

Let me know if it's of interest.
