Keep the rarest modern Rolex. Friggin rubber strap for $30K is comical whether gold or not. I can't imagine looking back on that as a good idea. Platona. Yes.

All it takes it for rolex to start releasing the 500 to meet demand and it falls half in price to rrp.
Feels like all the gold will hold there value

Get both if you can. I wouldn’t want to depart with either.

Comes down to the money you have to top up

I think there are two questions here -

1. Will OP like the WGOF better than SS
2. Is it a “good” trade deal

First question is hard to answer as people’s preferences differ widely. Personally , own a 500 (white) and wooos not give it up for a PM Daytona. But that’s me, and I see why some would.

I think second question is impossible to address without knowing how much cash is involved .

No way bro, I also have the 500LN, I would never trade it “up” for a PM model. The PM models aren’t even pure precious metal, in fact Rolex don’t even tell you the % of PM. Could be a sprinkle for all we know. The Steel models will always hold value. Dont waste time with PM unless it’s what you actually want.

The 500LN is going to go down as the most desired / wanted / best looking modern Rolex. Do not let it go!

The SS Daytona is lovely but the oysterflex is a PM watch, that's the next level to go to, at least IMO.

I would not. It’s the same watch but for the precious metal case. Buy an Everest or Rubber B for your SS beauty and you save yourself thousands.

This is a pretty bad take. I don't discount the ss being one of the most sought after modern Rolex references, but let's relax with the makeup of Rolex's PM models...they're not out here fleecing everyone with a "sprinkle" of PM.

Although not a fan of any modern day Daytona the only upgrade to what you have already is the retail new price.

All I can say is that the dial of that 116519LN is way better looking than 116500 any dial. No experience owning OF though so can't speak on that.

I like the WG a lot but not a huge fan of the Oysterflex. As said before, most pictures I see have the strap flaring out and that just doesn’t look good to me. Plus a $30K watch with a rubber strap? I have a hard time reconciling that in my head, and wallet.

There is always 5164 for 50 (mkt value) in ss. The point on OF is true I don’t love the fins but I love that Dial. For me, I wouldn’t move either. That said, full wg
With ceramic and a special dial is the ultimate winning recipe

So here is my .02 worth. I have had the DaytonaC for over 2 weeks now and yes, I love it and will never sell it. However, I "had" a 519 (2005 year on leather) since new and just sold it last week. I prefer the leather way more than the OF rubber, personally. I already miss it, I loved it and now know I should not have sold to make the C purchase easier. Bad move on my part. I could've afforded it, but wanted the easy way. For those who have not owned both... the WG PM case is larger and heaver, they are NOT the same. I say again, not the same in size, weight or even FEEL. It was more substantial in the sense of feeling, size and warmth. I couldn't always put my finger on exactly what it was, but that watch was special. I should not have sold. But with just getting the DaytonaC 2 weeks ago and the Pepsi call just coming in, I took the easy way out by liquidating a "duplicate" but it took me the last 2 weeks of wearing the new Daytona C to realize it is NOWHERE near a duplicate of the 519. SO, don't trade, save up for the new watch. Good things come to those with patience. But, this is just my .02 worth.

I just made this trade.. white dial 116500 for the 116519. I own the black SS version. Everyone says I should love the white dial, all the IG influencers say white dial. . I have to admit the white dial just never spoke to me. Vintage daytonas are silver, not white. The white feels cheap and pasty white next to the ceramic bezel, and I could never really figure out what to wear it with. This is just my opinion. .

I have had zero regrets since doing the trade and will never look back. . gotta buy/wear what YOU like not what others say you should like

Now I will say. . the black SS version for me is an all time keeper

I hope I can ask on this thread and not start a new thread . I too am considering going for the 116519 In Everose. But for me I would consider trading my non-ceramic V series Daytona. Is that crazy to do since they don’t make that version anymore? Please help me with my real world problems

Lmao wtf. All Gold Rolexes are 18kt gold. Not only that but Rolex has their own foundry and makes some of the best gold alloys around. You realize that any gold alloy purer than 18kt would be too malleable and unwearable

Maybe they’ll release a new Paul Newman in SS and the 116500 will be worthless? Let me get out my crystal ball real quick...

Yes - Rolex 116519 is 18kt solid gold, which is 75% Au (gold). That’s what this .750 stamp stands for.

White gold on oyster flex is very very boring in my opinion. Doesn’t excite me to look at like other watched. Would much rather keep your one on the bracelet.

Had the 116500 and thought it was great, in every way.

One day when chatting to my AD he brought out a 116519LN just to show me. I wasn’t in the market and had always been against spending money on metal rather than movement.

24hrs later it was on my wrist.

Intended to keep both as they wear quite differently, but six months later the 116500 hadn’t had any wrist time for six months. Sold it to a friend.

So...I wouldn’t think twice. It is only the ‘heat’ of the 116500 that makes it a hard decision.
