My favorite bike of the nine I’ve owned. I wish almost every day that I hadn’t sold it. ST2 944.

NOTHING is as rewarding to me as exploring on a big dual sport/adventure bike ! Backroads and dirt roads from Maine to the Rockies, there’s nothing comparable.

Rambling around the mountains of NC, TN, & GA this past weekend .............

Beautiful bike.

What was your experience with the comfort level of cruiser style to sport style to sport touring style.

When people buy bikes they don't really realize the body posture that the different styles of bikes puts them in.

I used it strictly as a day cruiser. I installed 1/2 inch bar risers and replaced a rock-hard Corbin seat with a Sargent seat, but I could never get it comfortable enough to ride as a tour bike. I routinely rode my Harley-Davidson touring bikes 5,000 to 6,000 miles per trip, but after about 150 miles on the ST2, I was done. As a sport bike, it was far more capable than I was. I never did top it out to see how fast it went. At 135 mph, I lost my nerve. Mrs. Chitwood wouldn’t ride as a passenger, even with a backrest, because of the lean and speed. I loved the open clutch clatter and the carbon fiber and billet bits available to it. Just an amazing bike.

Joe,

Find a nice pre-owned KLR 650, tent, sleeping bag, a few bungees, and go see the country. Views from a moto gives a different perspective than any other !

Definitely looks like the best way to see the country, but I've dedicated myself to the new K1600B, as well as my '07 Springer Classic.
Enjoy your adventures and keep the photos coming!

Used to have this Street Glide Special, but sold it this year. I just never used it - 2 years and rode it less than 1,500 miles. Having a motorcycle in an urban area isn't for me. Maybe when I retire and move out of the city.
