Hah lets do it lol
I leave the new unworn batman in the safe as I had originally purchased a used one for less than retail from a friend and then my AD called me with a Batman and hulk at the same time, couldn’t refuse that!

Hmmmmmmm

This has got me thinking.......my BLNR is dated 16/02/2019. I managed to get it from my AD just before Basel World.

Mine is still fully stickered however I’m just waiting for my guarantee card to be sent out to me or for me to collect.

Now a few days after Basel World my AD called me and could not stress how much he believes this is a great investment peice as collectors love the first year and final year of production.

Because of that I decided this will be the watch that I will pass on to my unborn child hence the reason why it is still fully stickered.

I’m intrested to see what the next 5 years hold for this watch. I’m in a win-win situation as I purchased it Tax Free at a UK airport. I actually based my first ever thread about the purchase

LOL

Think about this for a second. In this current page of this thread there are 3 different ppl already who have stickered batmans in the box in the safe. There are probably 1000s of these like this and we are all thinking its going to make you a millionaire? LMFAO

Jeesus Christ. Dumbfounded.

For me it’s because I already had a Batman and that my AD supplied a new one in my name.its just a good way to put some spare money into a nice watch i can hand down to family in time.
It’s not an investment to make a few pound as at my age i have already made my fortune.

Wow talk about over reacting! haha

I don’t think a single person mentioned it will make them a fortune let alone a millionaire lol

But it will definently will be interesting to see if anything will happen.

I’m already up around £7,000-£10,000 on this watch so I’m happy

WIS: “Why would anyone ever spend $19k on a watch that retailed at $9k? Ludicrous!”

Normal human: “Why would anyone ever spend $9k on a watch when a $30 watch is more accurate? Ludicrous!”

We like what we like and it’s not always rational. Interesting how many people have such strong opinions about how others spend their money.

You are buying a watch at market value, that is what it’s worth regardless of MSRP.
It’s a matter of personal financial circumstances. For a millionaire to spend 8k over on a watch is a drop in the ocean when you have hundreds of thousands in the bank. The value is still in the watch and having and wearing a watch straight away that you would not get from an AD is immeasurable in terms of money, life is short.
Makes me laugh ,no one comments on the thousands people lose on buying new cars or drinking and smoking everyday....

I bought my Batman 2 years ago, when the waiting period was less than a year and AD gave rebates on Rolex. I have now ordered Green Sub and I prefer to wait another year than overpaying a few thousand dollars second-hand. I buy a watch to wear it. Others to sell it profitably after some time. Everyone does what they want with their money ...

He does this all the time. Nothing new here.

While his company delivers what was promised (and I’m happy his listing are accurate), his SS professional prices are TERRIBLE for buyers. But hey, God bless him though because he finds buyers and continues to be one of the main US online resellers buying from ADs despite the crazy high asking prices.
This “trusted seller” and others discussed here, do have listings that are inaccurate. Less than a year ago, I bought a watch from DavidSW that was advertised as being from 2018 with the balance of the manufacturer’s warranty remaining. When the watch arrived, the warranty card clearly showed it was from 2015, and was out of warranty. The watch also had defects that were hidden in the online photos because of the camera angles used. The movement was also making strange sounds when winding. In fairness, DavidSW apologized for their mistakes and took the watch back. But I was inconvenienced and missed out on other watches because I pursued this one.

A 3-year mistake in the age of a watch and misrepresentation of warranty status are significant errors and could have easily been avoided by conveying the information on the warranty card. This is not an isolated incident. After I reported this incident here last year, other members contacted me to report similar things. When buying from grey market dealers, please ask many questions first, and speak to the dealer live on the phone. Ask them to physically obtain and handle the watch and verify key information and describe any defects not apparent in online photos. Do not take the online listing information about the watch at face value.

Out of interest I enquired at a TS in the Royal Arcade in London yesterday and was offered £10K cash for a straight sale which I thought was pretty healthy. I figure 12 or 13 for a private sale so still double MSRP.

Crazy Batman Price

Y’all have covered it. Cheers. Just thought I’d share a conversation I had in person with DavidSW last Spring. I stopped in to visit and discuss the 116710BLNR just after the 126710BLNR was announced. He said he felt like the price range for preowned 116710BLNR would stabilize around 13-15. He did not think it would keep on increasing into the high teens.

I’ve done some deals with him but it’s been a few years. I had a full set 116710BLNR last Spring which I traded just after I visited with David. We can witness the 116710 trending down from 16-17+ asking price, back then, to the price point where they are now, around 13k USD.

It’s a big world and there are lots of BLNR on oyster out there. Makes sense to me that one might ask 19, sell at 18.5 for a NOS stickered collectible. I’m glad someone is putting these away. That’s where the amazing 50-year old examples come from. Someone put them away, for whatever reason. And there are some lovely vintage 4 and 5 digits out there.

I wear my watches.
None are held NOS.
YMMV
