Personally I've bought back the exact watch I sold a couple of times - a breitling and a white op 39. More broadly I've bought a speedmaster twice (and sold it twice, and want it again ). I've come close to buying back a sub C date after parting with it but keep reminding myself I've got enough subs including the no date, so just relax there. My wife has the philosophy that if you sell something once then that's it, she says you don't actually like it then, or something bothers you about it - she HATES it when I re-buy something. Though I have sold things I like to fund something else because I needed the cash, as someone posted above, with full intention of getting it back. Fun times! |

I’m still going back and forth. Sold my blnr last year to get the Daytona and I’ve been missing it more and more. However, I’m not willing to buy it back with the premium so I’m still without a Blnr. Only other option would be to somehow find one at an AD but I don’t want the jubilee so looks like I’ll just have to cut my losses.

I recently sold/traded a watch for the first time, a Yacht Master II SS. Got a new SD 43 in what was basically an even swap (no tax either).
Part of my consideration when selling it was that it’s a fairly easy model to obtain both new and used at a discount. I would probably have some sellers remorse though if I sold something harder to buy back... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Buying back same model you sold?
Yep. I bought the v1 of the DBlue when it first came out, sold it as was not happy with how it sat on my wrist. I regretted it and bought the updated model in 2018, sold that within 6 months. Regretted it again instantly, was in a bit of a weird place with my hobby at that time and sold a few that year. Having collected for over 10 years i have seen a few come and go but the DBlue is the one watch that has my heart. It’s like a siren song. I really really felt bad for letting it go again. I picked it up for the 3rd time just before Xmas last year and not letting it go again!!!

Just did it. Traded an Omega Aqua Terra towards a Sub about 7 years ago. Bought a similar model a month ago. The only sale of a watch that I regretted. .

I bet this happens to everyone, and those who can afford to buy it back, will. However, most people on this forum seem to have to trade their watch to get the next one, so they just end up having sellers remorse.

Funny you should mention this. I recently bought an Explorer and was considering selling my Aqua Terra for the same reason. Now you have me rethinking that decision...

This thread made me laugh, I have not done it yet, but can think of 3 I want back! The most recent was a 116519 WG Daytona on leather I sold to Bobs to fund an incoming new SS 116520 white face. Made excellent financial sense as I picked up 3k on the sale to Bobs on my trusted 116519 I have had for 14 years. The new 116520 came to me via direct call from dealer so I paid msrp, so obviously I couldn't say no. I love the new SS Daytona, it's beautiful and a keeper, BUT it does NOT wear anything like the 116519. Not nearly the "wrist presence and feel" of white gold, class, and overall "wow" of having a 116519 as a semi-daily wear watch. Thus, I will without a doubt eventually buy back a 116519. And yes, I will pay more than what I sold mine for. UGH!

In the last year, I have repurchased a GMT-II, DD40, Speedmaster, and 1815 Up/Down. Should have never sold these to begin with.

You got that blue dial, which is stunning. Two complaints bout AT (minor), co-axial was top heavy, but I own a sub sooo I’m a hypocrite lol, and the bracelet doesn’t appear to taper that much, which kind of hurt the aesthetics to me, but again this is OCD level critique. Other then that, it was perfect. I will add back eventually. |
