I agree. That VC is a beauty! I love blue dials as evidenced by my FPJ CB and Daytona 116509. But IMHO the grey-blue of the 5711a, while compelling, falls short of the overall aesthetic of the white dial. I wish Patek would use the same blue on the base 5711a that they used on the anniversary edition.

But even though I am saying all this about this VC, is a watch personally couldn't buy because historically is hard for me to commit to timepieces , so people like me have to stay in magic formula of Rolex, AP and Patek. I think I have now watches that I can commit to keep , if after a year I am still with the same watches then I think i had earned the right to consider VC overseas.

The problem with the Overseas line is that they reboot it every few years. There is no continuity. It’s a “steal” for a reason.

Well rebooting is not necessarily a bad thing , VC has improved the watch with this new system of strap changing , solid bracelet awesome clasp.
Patek keeps the Nautilus with its crappy clasp and their great improvement is being able to hack seconds, really ? I wish patek could reboot the nautilus a little bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think a Nautilus reboot is overdue as well. I’ve said for years they need to discontinue the 5711 in steel altogether.

Congratulations with your decision. No wrong choice. I own both and love both. The white is definitely a more special white than on the 15202 white.
If after some years you want to change the look, Patek can change the dial to blue during a service. But you cannot keep the old dial... |

They are going to overhaul the Calatrava line. I think they might leave the 5711 alone. Then again, what do I know!

If I were going 5711, I would get the white dial and then go blue in 5712 and AP 15202 Jumbo. Then you’d be set.

So it seems the 5711 white dial is being discontinued. That didn’t take long.
Either Thierry Stern has it in for me or I have rotten timing. Since Mr. Stern has no idea who I am, I’ll just assume the latter. That’s disappointing. Oh well. It’s only a watch. Congrats to those who own one. On to the next I suppose. Maybe a 5711r... |

As someone who followed and participated in your post, I feel your pain. On the other hand, this does make your decision easier.

Too right. I think I’m going to try to get on the list for the 5711r. I made the mistake of trying on Ninjaboy’s 5711r the other day and perhaps I was aiming too low with the 5711a all along. It will require selling a couple pieces that I don’t wear now anyway. It’s just a matter of how realistic my chances are for the RG.

The Overseas line has been incredibly successful for VC after a slow start. VC and Richemont are incredibly happy. Discounts are a thing of the past for the three-hander, and generally there is a few months wait to get the watch.
