The “Submariner” for the win.

Submariner preferred here, thinking of buying one. Love the simplicity of my Explorer 1, so very tempted. Are both Submariner versions exactly the same size and hight?

I have and like both.

Does anyone have any photos of a five digit Sub Date with the cyclops removed? I really like the idea of this.

Prefer Submarine Date. It just feels more “complete” to me.

One of each. To cover all bases.

Looks wise I don’t think the 10460M 2 line can be beaten for a sub.

I also like having a date function for a daily so there’s no one watch solution.

It's a matter of function. Get the date if you need it. No date if you don't.

Sub

Matter of preference but I went with the date version. My last one was from 01 and the new Sub is awesome with several enhancements.

Anyhow, how could you not enjoy either one! I suppose if I were retired I’d go with the no date as I would Care less about what date it was!

A cyclops doesn’t make Rolex - Rolex

The pinnacle 5512, 5513 submariners do not have a date/cyclops

neither does the Daytona have a date/cyclops and it is the Rolex Top Gun....

When I purchased my 14060m 2-liner in 2004, there were only a couple current Rolex models without the date - Sub, Milgauss, Daytona, and Explorer (at least that's what I think). The Daytona came in numerous dial colors, but everything else was pretty homogeneous. Now, we have those models, the the OP and the Air-King. With more models without the date, the Sub fit in more (in my opinion) instead of being one of the few without a date.

This is an extremely difficult decision when considering both and can be subjective depending on who you ask. For myself I was lucky when I went to purchase mine that they had the Black SS GMT, Submariner and Submariner date to choose from. I made the decision on the spot and chose the Submariner as it looked very clean and symmetrical. Before picking it up I called back and changed my mind after looking at pics online and just decided that I liked the Rolex DNA in the date bubble and having the date on my wrist was a plus.

In the end either one you choose will be a great pickup. It’s a classic watch that will never go out of style.

I have the best of both worlds. A Hulk (sub date) and a sub (no date).

The no-date will be my next watch purchase more than likely. I don't dislike the date but every one of my daily wearers has a date right now so just for a difference from the rest that's the route I'm gonna go.

It's nice having a date but aesthetically I definitely like it better without.

I have two Rolex date watches for work hours and a Submariner for weekends and vacation where I want to be more unplugged. I usually don’t forget the date any more than I forget the day of the week. Only time is constantly changing

I own a Submariner (no date), it’s classic, and wear mostly in summer. i also own a yellow gold black dial (date); wear it more often in rotation as love the weight of precious metal.

Yes missing date on OP’s or sub is sometimes annoying when you need to check date, but just click on iphone for that then.

Even with a date watch, I’d always take out my iPhone and look at it.
No idea why

No date for me. I have worn my 14060M for years so I am used to not having the date on my watch. I also prefer the cleaner and more balanced look of the 2 Line dial but that’s a completely different topic.

Since the only way to get an LV is with a date, the date.

If they ever offer the Sub (no date) with the green bezel, I am all over it.
