I retired -- fully -- in my mid-40s last year after starting and building a business from scratch over the past 15 years. I can guarantee you there's no such thing as "partially retired." What a strange thing for the person to throw into the post. "Partially retired" at age 32 just sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about.

Switzerland is struggling with the Coronavirus, it has one of the highest rates of infections per head of population so any re-opening of watch businesses is going to be extremely unlikely.

This rumor came from watch YouTuber Marc Goldberg. I like him and I think he believes what he’s saying is genuine. The issue is he cannot confirm one way or the other if his source is legitimate or not. It could be someone messing with him but he has no way to confirm if his source is a Rolex mole lol.

They have a good income from a retirement plan, or some other source, but still want to stay active and still make some extra money. I also know others who have never really retired and have just retired from one job and immediately gone to another, One man I know has retired from at least four careers and has income from all of them and he still volunteers. As for what Rolex is doing, I think it's safe to say that no one knows except for Rolex and maybe a few government bureaucrats.

I do not believe the rumor. I don’t even think swiss government mandates closure of businesses. Swiss and Sweden are the most liberal from that perspective in Europe

The Swiss will re-open when they do. When that happens Rolex re-opens, not a moment sooner.

Apologies if this has been covered but, for those that follow Marc Goldberg, it sounds like Rolex has applied to Swiss authorities for an exemption to resume limited operations, including shipping COSC-certified inventory. WatchPro reporting that Breitling is resuming limited manufacturing next week, with the goal of getting to 60-70% capacity, so one would have to think it is likely Rolex works out a way to resume operations in some form as well. Query whether ADs, which presumably are or will soon be cash-strapped (in line with the overall market), are lobbying Rolex HQ more forcefully than is typical for a higher ratio of SS to PM for these planned shipments of existing inventory. Thinking is that, if successful and that were to come to fruition, ADs would at least have some easier-to-move pieces and therefore some more-reliable, albeit lower margin, sales. Thoughts?
