Wow my initial thoughts are: I want to like it, but I can’t lie to myself- it’s ugly. A mish-mash of diff things that don’t work together. The romans seem awkward, too small and peripheral, the day window seems small, the case is blocky. Seems like a mess to me.

It is literally the Rolex oysterquartz. I wondered if they would bring that look back for Rolex but looks like the answer is kinda, but to Tudor.

I want to see the 38mm version. Maybe they have some non-Roman numeral dials as well. Curious so see how this one turns out.

still don’t understand what is the purpose of Tudor throwing new models with ETA .. brand wise it sucks, they started on a journey of inhouse movements either own developed or in partnership like with Breitling but this way they should go

was hoping one day to see that 1926 with white dial and blue and inhouse movement but it’s clear they are not thinking like this :)

It is like the date window of this movement is a little more towards to the centre of the dial like the prev. gen. Royal Oaks. In other words a small movement for it´s case size..

Unfortunately that’s just the way it is sometimes.

Even Patek does that .

Someone posted a pic in the Patek subforum of a Calatrava movement where the movement had to sit inside a big plastic ring that was used as a spacer because the movement was too small for the case

If it’s okay on a $30k watch I guess it’s okay on a sub $10k watch

New Tudor Royal and Tudor Royal Day Date.

New Tudor Royal and Tudor Royal Day Date.

Available in four sizes – 41, 38, 34, and 28 mm – the case is available in steel or two-tone steel and 18k yellow gold, with the same integrated bracelet that’s five links across.

The movements are ETA

Essentially Tudor (or should I say "Rolex") have decided to take Rolex history and apply it into this watch but not enough to compete with the big brother.

Engine turned bezel (70s Rolex). Integrated bracelet (80s Rolex). Full Roman dial. Assorted sizes. Assorted metals. Date function. Date and day function, etc. etc.

Live shots look decent. But I think there is too much going on for me as a complete package.

Would like to see a variation with a stick dial. The romans aren't doing it for me.

I’m not a huge fan of these but am very glad Tudor is making them to add diversity to their catalogue.

I get an Omega Constellation vibe myself. Not a bad thing. I don't think I'd buy one. The older Date-Day is just my bag.

‘Wow! Looks great! Integrated bracelet and cool dials and bezels! Like an Oysterquartz.’

- ‘But you hated the OQ, why not just get a nice used OQ then?’

‘But it’s still a quartz.’

- ‘So? It’s a Rolex quartz, and it’s beautiful!’

‘Hey, the new Tudor also has an ETA made by Swatch!’

- *stares at floor rubbing temples*

I'd rather have a new oysterquartz, but I suppose for some these would scratch a similar retro itch. And it's a way for Rolex to get in on the current push for integrate bracelets without Rolex actually doing it.

Honestly, what I really want is for the sub update to have an integrated bracelet. Bu, of course, there's zero chance of that.

I'm torn on this one. It feels like they are trying to cash into the Royal Oak craze, but I still somewhat like how they look. May have to wait until they are available in the US to make my mind up on them.
