buy the black sub to build the AD relationship, flip it, and keep waiting for the hulk.

Buy the black now.
Enjoy it till the Hulk comes in. When the Hulk comes in...sell the black. The profit on the black will cover 50% the cost of the Hulk at MSRP. Win win |

I've never understood the interest in the Green Sub. To me it's hideous. The black sub is a timeless classic that you absolutely cannot go wrong with. IMO it's 10X better looking than the Hulk. If Rolex ever makes a green Daytona I will know I've died and gone to hell.

Get the black first, then wait for the Hulk. I have both, I called 4-5 AD's one Wednesday and by Friday morning a lady called with the Hulk! Two days! (two years ago)
I wear the black more often but the Hulk is almost priceless IMHO. Love both! |

As far as looks go both look great but different, if you want to own/wear a watch that the rest of the world already owns then go for the regular Sub, if you want something that is more unique and don’t want to follow the herd the Green Sub LV.

Do you really think buying a highly desirable SS model builds a “relationship”... if anything getting a Sub would lower your odds of getting a Hulk in my opinion... not to mention in this day and age a hulk is not going to be allocated to someone with a single Sub purchase! SS watches are automatic sales so I don’t see why asking for desirable models that one is most likely looking to flip would help your chances.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I got my hulk a little over a year ago from an ad that I had zero purchase history with. In my case I think it's all about biulding a personal relationship and letting them know you are not a grey/flipper. There are still some great ads out there that want to do the right thing for us personal collectors. Receiving today a 116518ln pn dial from an ad i had not bought from before, but got to know over the past year or two by swinging by in person to say hey, emailing, texting, etc. from time to time without being bothersome. Good luck on the hunt. If you want the hulk, wait for it. I would think passing on a ss model will let them know you are not a flipper, which may increase your odds of getting the hulk.

Congrats! But they were trading at $11.5k two years ago, so the premium then wouldn’t have been what it is now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The black sub is the commonest of the common. That's why the SD43 is getting very popular with people who like a black bezel diver from Rolex. Hulk for a Sub, and SD43 for a black diver. OP wait for the Hulk, you can get the black Sub anytime.

To a non Rolex person any Sub-derivative is a Sub... so that makes it even more common. |

When I was at the AD a few days ago they said they thought the hulk would be discontinued because Rolex hadn’t sent them one for a while. If they are going to discontinue it and you don’t get one then that sucks but don’t let that fear of missing out drive your decision to buy a black one. The black sub will never be discontinued and will probably be improved in a few weeks with a new reference. Wait and see what unfolds.

Wear what you want. You are the only person who knows what you really want, what you will wait for, and what it’s worth to have. Time is money: waiting vs grey. |
