This is why I don’t think I’ll ever use RSC. I always thought Rolex stood for perfection and precision but lately all I see are RSC ruining people’s watches like swapping oysterflex on pm and leaving scratches or not being able to follow simple directions like do not polish.

OP I hope you get a satisfactory response from Rolex. Keep us posted.

Maybe lucky, but over the years I've been to an RSC at least 15 times - in Dallas, NYC, Dubai and Malaysia. In all cases I was listened to and the work was performed skillfully and within the time frame expected.

A couple of these times, I had a mild polish (my request) and it was done extremely well.

I have had mixed results but for the most part it was a great experience.
The worst was dealing with an independent once

Agreed.
I had hopes they wouldn't molest it like was feared, but it seems like they may have been on drugs or something when they attacked it without mercy

They've never done anything like that to any of mine
That's all I can say.

I always use the UK RSC never had an issue with them until last time. I put my 16570 in for service. They wanted to change the bezel, Crystal, hands and dial. I said no. Just do the service as it’s my daily wear and the bezel will be scratched again in a couple of days. Anyway l got it back and they had changed everything and polished it way too much. Polishing doesn’t really bother me but it wasn’t the best job. Lugs similar to the OP’s pictures. However they wanted to charge me for it all or the watch would need to go back to them to have the parts removed. I flat out refused as the parts were now used anyway and how would I know I would get the originals back. They insisted I paid. Again I refused and would only pay for the service. The AD was actually embarrassed and took care of it for me (I think at their own expense). Not sure if their service is slipping a bit nowadays.

I would not be happy either.

If it’s possible to swap it back into a new factory original case and pay compensation for the trouble/ loss of value that would be a good solution.

Shame. I was hoping they'd give this discontinued special model a light, sympathetic polish. Nope. It's just an old watch that needs the buffing wheel. Next.

Got a call from the AD today some excellent news.

RSC informed them that after inspection by their case finishing manager he/she has agreed that my watch was over aggressively polished so not up to their usual high standards. As such they had contacted Head Office Geneva to discuss options and it has been agreed that my watch will be sent over to Geneva to have the case swapped with a new blank whereby the original serial number of my watch will stamped/engraved onto it thereby matching the original warranty documents. Also a new fliplock clasp will be fitted.

The AD says that it came as quite a surprise as this is quite rare for Rolex to do this.

Wow that is actually amazing. It looks like Rolex HQ is starting to recognize the collectibility angle to their older products.

Well that is excellent to see the way that Rolex have dealt with this.
You only ever really find out how good a company is when something goes wrong, and how they deal with it. It is then that that the company has the opportunity to either shine, or lose a customer forever.

That’s fantastic news! I had a similar issue where my brand new 126655 was dinged by the RSC during an Oysterflex swap. After some back and forth, they also agreed to replace my case with a brand new one and with the same serial engraved.

I’m glad to hear they got you sorted as well!

I remember in your original thread I said there is no way they can offer you to take your watch back to the condition it was in before that happened. I guess I was wrong. Congratulations.

Its sad that this outcome is seen as amazing. This is the standard that Rolex should operate under.
