I have used my FedEx ParcelPro account for years without issues. I recently did some business in the EU and utilized DHL, which was vastly superior...literally took 2 days back and forth, whereas FedEx would be more like 5 days.

Thrilled that this ended well! Now you can look back on 2020 and know that something good happened this year!

Glad the package was found. There have been many instances of this happening to my packages but I would be on alert if it hasn’t shown up the day it should have. Contact your insurance ASAP, they usually have a quick access to FedEx trace department that can see all the internal scans we don’t see.
Since this happened and it’s been traced to the FedEx office which you dropped the package at, I believe you should look for a different Print and Ship. The employees and the manager now know the contents of what you ship because of the investigation, which is very very risky for future shipments.

Thank goodness! I’m delighted to hear.
UPS and Fedex both lost high value packages of mine, this year. It’s been a mess this year, with shipping. A complete, hot mess! My packages all turned up, after lengthy delays, missing planes, being rescanned dozens of times at shipping hubs. Scanned on trucks but not delivered the day they were put on trucks. Those were packages that I shipped with ParcelPro. And I’ve had inbound packages get delayed or lost this year, too. But again, all were found. In the end, all turned out well for me. I’m so glad for the family and for you. Merry Christmas. PS, I was not successful buying the Daytona we discussed last Sunday evening. Thank you so much for calling me, when you returned from Texas. I will look forward to working with you, when I find one. My hunt continues. That’s the fun part, for me.

What I would like to understand is why was a new label applied? Wondering what lessons we can take away to ensure confidence in shipping expensive watches with FedEx and this won't happen elsewhere?
I've always taken a pic with my phone, of the sealed box with label applied and ensure I see them scan it in with a tracking number on receipt and in hand before I leave. Makes me wonder if we should also tell them it's unauthorized by sender, for FedEx to replace the label once scanned with a new label and we have pic of label proof on a sealed package. |

At this point, the family and I both agreed the box should come back to me for a "look over". The security agent told me the box had been beat to hell, but watch was okay. Then he will drive in this Monday to collect his family heirloom. But, this situation is extremely disturbing!

What also impressed me about John (FedEx security) is that he is a watch collector and passed along his personal number. Told me to contact him if I have multiple packages, heirlooms and/or highly expensive shipments, that he would personally follow each scan and make sure they arrive to the owner.

Post pictures of the box when it arrives.
My worst, international mail from Europe. My USPS postman was visibly embarrassed by its condition when he got my signature. It had disappeared for a month in transit. Inside, the box was wet. Turned out, the watch was fine, which was very hard for me to believe. |

I do understand, but then who...? USPS has many stories and the same with UPS. I feel all we can do as owners and watchmakers is to insure and avoid holidays. We can all agree 2020 is an unique year in which the option of shipping has increased by the millions.

So Phillip - any thoughts on going USPS Registered?
I had an old Hamilton 992B Railway Special watch restored two years back, and the watchmaker (CW21 Bernie Tope in FL) insisted on USPS Registered both ways. That's been my only experience with non-FedEx. USPS Registered = S-L-O-W for certain.

I believe I will continue using FedEx, but using the FedEx shipping center, not the FedEx office as I was recommended by security. What I can say, regardless of which company I/we use, at some point, someone will have an issue and we need to do our best to cover ourselves.

Perhaps outside the US/North America DHL is good. I don’t know. They are terrible in my personal experience inside US. Had another poor experience with a lost package since Dec. 5th and nothing but finger pointing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

After working with FedEx closely for 13 years, I’ve learned to never ship anything you wouldn’t be okay losing.

Glad it was found. This looks more like a mistake than a theft though.

Time will tell. I am only going off what other security agents are telling me.

Hey, hey! The package arrived safely. They had opened the package to confirm the watch was there, then installed in a new box.
