Sorry about my english in advance.

If you have zero watches to begin with, I will probably go for one watch at the time and not a very high price piece to begin with. Getting a PP 5205G is like getting a Rolls Royce as first automobile. You will not appreciate it near as much as it deserves, if you haven't had other cars before it.

On the other hand, since you are on this side to begin with, you are of cause into watches and probably already got several pieces. Therefor my list buying one by one with 6 month to one year apart would be:

1) Rolex steel sport, sub or GMT.

2) Dress watch from a non-Rolex brand fx. PP Calatrava 5196G. Relatively cheap and can even be had at a discount in the current marked hence people buy them to get up AD lists for Nautilus and Aquanaut.

3) A more personally watch with a history that speaks to you. Could be a vintage speedmaster or even a joker Chopard diving watch. Retails at 10€ but can be had at the secondary market for as low as 3-4.000€.

The PP Calatrava is about 18k list. But there is always discounts on time only pateks.

The sub is 7k

The fois speedmaster although only just discounted is 4K

That’s 29k with discounts. 26,500 with discounts

Group 2
OF Daytona is 22.5k
JLC is 8k but discount is available, more like 7k

Quite a fun way to spend 10 minutes on a Sunday morning...

White gold day date 18239 $16k

Black ceramic GMT 116710 $13k

Two tone sub with grey serti dial 11613 $14k

All preowned at market price for a good example. Sample photos from recent (ish) ads. Total $43k, but I'm sure with a little patience I could shave $333.34 off each :)

It’s pretty hard what would you come up with?
I owned both of these a few years ago and would have had eight grand to spare, and I could have bought a RO 15300 or AP Diver with that, oh how times have changed, be lucky to get much change out of sixty grand for those now!

For £30k I'll have a Dd36 yellow gold white dial, blue bb58 and a Casio.

Talking my own book...

1) Tool watch / beater: IWC Mark XV on pyramid bracelet
2) Dress watch: Patek 3998P Calatrava
3) Sports watch: Patek 5711/1A blue

Those cost me a little more than USD 42k but still in the USD 40k range.

Spend it CAREFULLY. Just because you have it, doesn't mean you have to piss it away.

I found this a very difficult question to answer as I have a love for PM watches however I would prefer not to have one watch.

I still think I can do better but so far have come up with

16618 black dial YG submariner.

Accompanied with,

116710LN.

I really tried to squeeze in a 116610LN with a 116718LN as much as I tried to fit it in the budget realistically it’s over.

Frankly, I would never spend that kind of money on Rolex watches, even if I was committed to use the whole amount for timepieces. I'd get a classic Sea Dweller in good condition, maybe a current Milguas and 39mm Explorer. That's it. Nothing else is appealing enough. I could see being interested in an early Sub or GMT, but prices are too crazy these days. I would probably spend what's left on an earlier Speedmaster instead.
