Haha, same thought, but you jump the gun and bought the YM OF. That will be my next in the wishlist! Congrats for acquiring the best pair of YM40 in my opinion!

Explorer I. Thought it was boring at first, but now I’m starting to understand it.

Thanks! If I were responding to this thread 6 months ago, neither would have even been on my radar. Now the question is do I just go all in and pick up a Blue dial YM??

The DSSD because I lost a bunch of weight and compared to my diminutive wrists, the watch keeps growing and growing:)

I don’t own one but I would say the BB58.

I always liked the general aesthetic of it, but essentially stated that the snowflake hand just ruins the watch. However out of boredom the other day I stopped by my local Tudor AD and tried one one, and the terrible snowflake hand just drifted into obscurity. I love the watch now. I’ll probably add one eventually.

Never liked the red and blue on jubilee but when they released on oyster it grew on me.

I would say the Explorer 1 because I always thought it was too simple, too plain.

I always fancied the idea of having one, it suits my mountaineering/ hiking lifestyle…I don’t need a sub, I never go diving…

….it’s only when I saw one in the flesh and appreciated its details that I truely began to appreciate it….plus the new 36mm size is perfect for me.

Probably also the Yachtmaster. I always liked the rhodium dial but not the bezel. Again, In the flesh it’s a stunner, plus the more oyster style curves of the case over the Sun and GMT slab sides makes it far more elegant

As far as Rolex goes, the Daytona was a watch that took decades for me to appreciate. I think in my 20s I found it to be too small and not "impressive" enough, if that makes sense.

I always admired it and found the design to be simply lovely. As I got older though, I really fell in love with it, especially when they dropped in the little sliver of ceramic haha.

It's currently my favorite watch.
This sums it up for me as well…the hype also kept me away for quite a while as well, but now I love mine more than I expected…

I’m a speedmaster collector and the -1 to -4 are entirely unobtainable due to rarity and price. This is, apart from the movement and Swiss position is a fairly faithful reproduction and as a speedy collector, added it out of principle more than love. But after about 1 week is became and still is my fav speedmaster that I own. It looks and wears different from every other and I absolutely love it. But initially I wasn’t sure. Thought it was too shiny and don’t care so much for metal bezels like this

Secondly, another omega
I was excited for this. Waited ages and it finally turned up. A 1948 seamaster release in 2018. On paper and in pics it looked great. I liked it when I put it on in store but nearly declined, due to it wearing like a stubby 37mm and being quite plain. Now I’m immensely glad I didn’t. It is perfectly simple.

The case shape, the design, especially the case edges, the subtle bevelling and the lug shape, the handset, applied markers and the speckled dial is gorgeous when you spend the time to look closer and appreciate it.

That speedy is rocking, very nice

I never “hated it” in fact I requested it but…

When I asked my AD for the new Kermit I was intrigued but still skeptical of the green bezel. I wanted a Sub to complete my Rolex Land Sea Air and thought I’d take a chance on the new Kermit.

Well, after receiving it in December 2021 it has truly astonished me. It has all the qualities and wearability of the classic black Sub but with a little pop of green. It is becoming one of my favorites. And I would have no problem if it was my sole watch.

Daytona. Thought it was too flashy, did not like PCLs, no date, fidgety screws for pushers. Then a few things things happened. I started to appreciate the more dressy, DJ type lines of the case, and the PCLs, and I actually used the chrono for more than 2 minutes at my son’s soccer game (starting and stopping for water breaks, resetting at half, etc.). That was it for me. Fell in love.

I've never liked yellow gold, especially in a watch, but I'm in love with the Day Date 118238 green.

Which watch grew on you the most?

I wouldn’t say I “hated” these two but didn’t really “get” either one of them in my first several years of the Rolex rabbit hole.

I never thought I’d wear any YG watch, I’m in my early 40s and never wear a suit. Hell I rarely even wear a collared shirt, but the President somehow won me over eventually and it’s my most worn.

Didn’t think I’d ever own a Daytona (full disclosure: I just got it a couple weeks ago) because I’ve had chronographs in the past but never really used the stopwatch function, and my argument for owning in the past was function>form. Once I decided I just like the way something looks and feels, a new world of possibilities opened up and I fell victim to curiosity about why the Daytona is so sought after by a lot of people.

After owning subs, a gmt, both explorers, and a couple datejusts these two are the only Rolex I now have and I don’t have an itch to try obtaining any more. It’s a nice feeling to be content.

BB58. When it first came out I really didn’t like the look of it. Tried it on at AD and absolutely loved it. Still one of my favourites. In fact I may still buy the blue BB58.

I have two. I never fancied a 116500LN until a couple of years ago. I already owned a 116520 and didn’t understand what the rave was about. I now own a 116500LN and totally understand how special it really is.

I used hate Panarai! Didn’t understand why anyone would want to wear a wall clock on their wrist. Well, I now own a 42mm Panarai Submersible and it’s by far my favorite everyday piece!

WG YM

AD had one and I got on the list same day. By far one of the most comfortable watches I own.
