Normally on the DateJust a fluted bezel is my preference. On the old DJ II I think the smooth bezel looks better, and of the two shown, that dial on the first one is an absolute must, best dial ever offered in the DJ lineup.

Both watches have beautiful dials however the larger date just always looks a bit odd to me almost as though they are shouting or trying too hard.
So for that reason the smooth would be my choice.

Oyster with smooth would be my choice. IMO fluted makes a nicer combo with jubilee.

Exactly. And I’ll add with this color combo the first one, definitely. Go get it

Fluted Bezel is classic on DJ. The light dances off it!

The fluted bezel looks fantastic on the DJ but think it is too flashy for all occasions. With a smooth bezel it is tone down and the jubilee bracelet makes it so classy.

But it's not what we think.......go with your gut and get what you want......
Agreed

Convince me: DJ II 116334 fluted or smooth bezel

Fluted looks best on a DJII IMO

Fluted for two reasons: 1) the classic DateJust look and 2) it hides scratches much better.

Local AD had a bunch of DJs in recently and I was able to try different options: at 41mm the fluted bezel was to showy for me but at 36mm I couldn't decide between smooth and fluted. I saved a bunch of money and went for versatility with a smooth (black dial) on 36mm, a neat replacement for my 1989 16200 smooth.
