Lowest I've seen is 4200 and highest in the 6500. So 2300 - 3000?

I thoroughly enjoyed this process. No AD BS, no games with SE. Just pay during the 10 min window and now wait for delivery!

Order number #56xx. Is this the amount of watches that was sold? Or does it include the previous launched watches?

consecutive for all the Kurono watches using that platform. 56xx seems to be in the middle...

Shopify order #s, by default, are all orders. Unless he reset just for this which I doubt as it would make for headache with your fulfillment software up.

It would include previously sold watches because they wouldn't want someone getting order number 2000 today if someone already had order 2000 six months ago for a different watch.

Of course, they might have started the number today at something higher than the order number they had reached previously, so it doesn't mean that they have sold as many as 56xx orders of watches, straps etc in their history.

A friend of mine who ordered had an order number of #6955. and he bought it fairly quickly too. in about 4mins. Looks that they sold at least 4-5k watches or more in 10min

Mine's in the low 43XXs (I guess I got lucky). I know someone who's in the 71XX. Sounds like ~3K orders were placed. But the final tally might yet change as they cull duplicates/flippers.

I too had ordered a Ming 17.09 in Burgundy but couldn't avoid the FOMO on this one. Really wanted the green Mori (which I would've preferred as I have nothing green). Like someone above said, though, very different vibes compared to the Ming.

Scratch that. Someone just posted that they were in the 40XX. Known range now seems to be 40XX - 71XX. Really hoping I'm part of the initial batch!

So they'll have to make 11 times more of the new don't-tell-me-that's-not-salmon dial vs. last year's green dial (288 pieces). I wonder if they were expecting this level of interest.

It sounds like they weren't because they said they had some contingent / overflow capacity so should be able to handle a larger than predicted level of demand. But then after the Hodinkee article yesterday they updated their site to say actually, if there is a lot of demand you could be waiting six months to a year, based on recent media attention.

The plan to deter flippers is not going to work if it goes viral because if a flipper can get lucky and place his order in the first couple of minutes of a buy window and get the watch in June, he can immediately offer it to people at a higher than list price - because if you missed the 10 minute window you can't order any more from the company, and would need to wait until after Christmas before the full production run could become available on the secondary market in enough volume for price to be driven down.

So if you're a flipper, place your order in the first few of the 10 minutes and get it up on Chrono24 quick... but if you get half way through the 10 minutes and haven't got your credit card accepted yet, just give up because you don't want to join the masses at the back of the line.

Maybe it part-solves the problem.

48xx for me. It's interesting Hodinkee received a lot of flack for posting about the release in their comments section when there were other outlets that wrote about it as well.

I feel like this was a very equitable way to sell the product. If you wanted one, you had the ability to put your money down and eventually receive it in a timely fashion (6mo -1yr is really not a long time for a small batch item IMO.) No bs AD games with indeterminant wait times .

Agreed. Watches in general are pretty reasonable wait times. Waits for something like a custom guitar built by a reputable luthier are ~1 - 2 yr

Order no 58XX, at the 3 minutes mark.

Don't think I'll be in the first batch, perhaps the second...let's see.

Anyway, really liked this approach of selling. If you're a fan and you've been waiting for a release, then with a bit of planning and preparation there was a very high probability you'd get this (barring those that encountered server/browser/card errors, which I guess is understandable). There is no way you'd not know about the upcoming release if you follow them on any of the social media platforms and are aware that, unlike bigger brands, they don't have a store presence and therefore always sell online and pre-announced.

I also like their desire to not disclose the numbers produced or ordered (though through creative speculation and fora posts such as this, people will find a way to do the math, reverse engineering available information, and basically "figure" out a close enough logical approximate). It really calls into question whether people buy things because they genuinely like them or because it is rare and has commercial potential. For me, while it's not cheap, it's not a lot of money either and even though I've never really tried one of their offerings in the flesh, I am hopeful it will live up to expectations.

Also, wonder if the simultaneous release of the Ming (coinciding rather surrendeptiously on the same day) would have resulted in some attention being diverted or split...

I’m in the 71xx camp, completed just before the end of the 10 mins time frame. Pretty sure I was amongst the last few who made it.

So I agree that we’ll be looking around 3000 pieces.

In a private group it has been revealed that a large number of orders were by flippers along with some people that ordered more than one including grey market sellers and more than 75%(!) of all orders have been cancelled.

Wow. How would they know a “flipper” ordered one
