Actually, you might be right. I have always criticized Tudor for leaning so heavily on the Black Bay line.
But somehow failed to see this perspective.
It could be the forums focus on usual favorites that detracts attention from the other lines and indeed they don't really "need" to update the Pelagos, for example, just for the sake of making headlines...

Good point

Spoke to an AD in the US and they had no idea about this. Obviously no boutiques in the US currently but the AD thinks they’re coming.

Personally the only thing I have a slight issue with are the slightly childish try-hard marketing videos ('so chic', and all that nonsense), as I think Tudor have done some great things in recent years with their watches, with the Black Bay turning their fortunes around like no other range.

However, even the most ardent Tudor fan must recognise that they're in real danger of becoming a one trick pony. We now have BB's in steel, DLC steel, gold, silver, bronze, ceramic, in three different sizes, in multiple colourways, and as time-only, time-and-date, GMT, and chronograph variants.

Meanwhile the North flag gets discontinued, while the Heritage Chrono, Pelagos, Advisor, etc, all get completely disregarded for any sort of upgrade/update.

Yes I know some people constantly talk about desperately wanting a Tudor Submariner reissue, and we all know that's HIGHLY unlikely given the fact that the BB exists and a Sub would undoubtedly annoy Rolex. But I don't think something a little different would hurt Tudor to try. The PO1, despite carrying the BB moniker, was something at least slightly different, and I applaud them for that (even if it did wear terribly on me when I tried one on).

Obviously the next release may be ground-breaking in some way, and we'll all eat humble-pie, but, while I don't necessarily agree with some peoples fervent disappointment with every release, I certainly understand it.
Dramatic? I'm 6% Italian and in fact waiving my hands & arms as I type this reply.

You're preaching to the choir, mate. For the most part I don't disagree with you.

Some might be surprised to know I've never been a huge Black Bay fan. They were nice but not enough to remove $$ from my wallet. Then came the BB GMT, from then on my favorite watch. When I was buying a diver, it was the Pelagos. When I was buying a chronograph, it was the THC [there was no BB chrono released in 2011, but I'd still pick the THC given the choice].

However, as nigelUK suggests, the DJ/ BB comparison is spot on. What you describe as a one trick pony, I see as a BB for many different tastes, just like the DJ. The fact the BB comes in various interesting cases materials, multiple bezel colors, with or without a date, different sizes, and a GMT complication, is a huge plus for the line as well as the brand.

As for the marketing, after recently retiring from 27 years in the advertising biz, I take all that w/ a grain of salt.

But the righteous indignation that this brand, or any other, would dare release a watch that didn't meet my stringent height requirements to fit my custom made French cuffs, to the millimeter, or the audacity to release a color I don't consider appropriate, seems a bit unrealistic to me.

I got news for ya' pal [please know this remark is intended for the general watch buying public, not you personally], it ain't all about you. Chances are, the next release, regardless of brand, will not be to your tastes.

I actually totally agree you..., but (as I know you know) it happens with the fans of pretty much every brand every time there's a new release, not just Tudor. Sadly when people are into the minutiae of a brand, every single detail is scrutinised to the n'th degree. I'm the first to admit that while I like Tudor, I'm not a rabid fanatic, but I can still totally "get" the hopes, and then the inevitable frustration, that occurs with Tudor recently as there's a lot they could do, but inevitably it's always another BB. But we'll see what happens this time!

In the comments section on IG, the Tudor rep was dropping multiple hints about the Marine Nationale. And based on the fact that I JUST bought a blue BB58, it seems like the perfect time to release the blue Tudor I would have bought if it existed. I'd still buy it. If I can. If it's a boutique release, I guess those of us in the US are out of luck?

I can’t wait to see either way. And I’ll get it from a Boutique if it’s not in the US and that cool. I don’t do anything under 40mm so hopefully it’s a 41 or 42mm

This year has been an exceptional year so far in terms of number of new releases by Tudor and they have been by no means conventional even in the Tudor sense. And now for them to actually launch for the very first time a boutique edition does set a bar and give the brand a perceived image of exclusivity however that does hinge heavily on how well received it is by its customers or potential ones.

With the bold releases so far, could this be a platinum reference.

RED will be the colour
Limited numbers this year with 5 sites only holding stock
estimate will be about 8/10 watches per site per month

Just back from a visit with my sons in Los Angeles. We went to an ever expanding outdoor mall, Westfield in Century City. I had a positive experience at Gearys new Rolex boutique where we actually talked about me receiving Rolex watches. Didn’t hurt having two local sons with me who also buy nice watches!

Long story but I’m also a fan of Tudor which is opening soon with their own boutique right across from Rolex and near Breitling, Tiffany’s, etc and looks good with their latest Red, Black and silver graphic themes! Looking forward to seeing this next trip to the coast!

The watch case. Look at the shape of the form it was placed on before getting pressed.

I just picked up my first Tudor, the GMT, two weeks ago after waiting forever for a Rolex. It is a great watch and I've asked the local AD for a Tudor panda Chrono. I am anxious to see what new Tudor is announced on Wednesday.

Is it a hot metal billet (think thats what its called) ready for press?

Or is it just a red maleable ‘non metal’ material?

That pressing shape - could that be a bezel shape?

Just saw that on their website. What could it be?

If boutique edition refers to models only available at an official boutique, it won’t be a whole new model, maybe just some new color.

Or boutique edition is just their name for an all-online introduction of a new model.

I’m thinking titanium black bay - one more new material to keep with the theme

A new color GMT would be a grand slam.
