More importantly no one volunteers how much they spent on unpopular Rolex watches, substandard watches like Tudor, Breitling, Hublot and many more not to mention jewelry with super high margins.
If the truth were to be known (and it never will be) these empty boasts would ring very hollow indeed.
I have no interest in the Panda. But I could wire the 40k right now and have one in my hands tomorrow morning by 1030. Wouldn't affect my finances in the least. Likely would break even if I sold it after the next round of stimulus checks but if I had to take a hit of 3 or 5 or even 10 it would be like water off a ducks back. Then I could put up an INCOMING post and boast about how I got it from an AD and without any high margin spending.
Complete BS in my opinion.

Really? I have. You must have missed my posts. Not that I consider brands like Tudor, Breitling, Hublot etc. to be somehow "sub standard".

Congratulations OP.

Came here looking for the critical analysis as the title suggested, still looking.

Idk, maybe the engineer in me is a little disappointed this turned out to be another discussion around buying at retail/grey or THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD BUY YOUR WATCHES.

Don't promise a critical analysis on a watch, then pen a word heavy post waffling about how you bought it (nobody cares, it's your money after all).

Congratulations on acquiring such a great watch at list.

Baffled by the malice of so many on this forum. Not sure if people are pissed off that the OP has found an AD who cares more for integrity than colossal spend which therefore emasculates their own journey, or if they just want to show off their bank balances.

Either way, not cool. Congrats, OP.

First off, thanks everyone for the great commentary!

I guess I did a poor job writing my post because my goal with the critical analysis was more to say don't buy it for the hype but instead buy it because you love it.

It is not often seen, so your average person doesn't recognize it, which is amazing if you want to fly under the radar.

Where was your "critical analysis?" I couldn't find it in your post.

He got laughed at by an AD for trying to buy an OP. That explains why he calls BS on others who claim to have more success than him at paying MSRP.

Love my 116520 white dial. Also like the 116500, but prefer my white SS Daytona to have a polished bezel and sub-dial rings. Hands down the best watch on the market at MSRP unless one hates chronographs. At secondary pricing I wouldn't buy one (but maybe I would think differently if I didn't already have a SS Daytona). At current pricing I prefer to go to PM. Glad you are enjoying yours!

Wait, we're on Rolexforums I'm pretty sure many can afford to buy without impacting finances. Most that are wealthy prefer not to boast about finances from my experience though. Thanks I needed a good laugh today

Anyone on the planet can gage, by a personal visit, the likelihood of walking into an AD in 2021, requesting a Daytona and getting it without major league spending on high margin items likely equal to the price differential to paying market price. If not more.
My research and experiences, and I could be wrong, lead me to say this is unmitigated BS in 2021.
Either way I don't want one. I am getting a 2 tone Skydweller. Chronographs hold zero interest for me.

Certainly very difficult to get at MSRP today you are right. Personally, I don't even bother trying. I'd go TT or PM as well. TT Sky Ds are very nice.
