Sell it. And get a 41 mm sub. It’s cheaper and the thinner lugs look a lot cleaner and streamlined. you won’t feel as bad beating on it since a lot cheaper than a hulk

Not wearing a new beautiful watch I just purchased is like asking me not lust over a beautiful girl in a sexy bikini. I’m an enthusiast not an investor. I’m married not dead.

I would have bought a pre owned one and saved thousands. If you are buying a NOS piece, then you are losing money by wearing it. You are right

Well, you say you don't flip or resell, so what does 10 years matter? Personally, I can't relate to owning something and not using it. If you are part of the new age TRF members "investing", then of course don't wear it...but that's ridiculous in my eyes. Were it, love it, enjoy it; I do mine!
![]() .........even if you doubled or tripled your money in 10 years, you will be so mad at yourself for selling it, don't even make it a thought. That is first hand knowledge, I traded my smurf about 2 years before they were discontinued. I'm not so much worried about the perceived potential loss, I just enjoy having things that aren't produced any longer and I can't afford to buy another one. |

Yep you should take it to a safe deposit box and lock it up. It will be a great investment and in 20 years you can take it out and sell it for big money. Rolex always great investments.

It’s never going to be worth big money. There are too many of them in circulation. Almost everyone on this forum has one. Some of us have multiples. The grey dealers are sitting on a large supply. At most it will be work 3-6 times the cost of a normal sub in 20 years, I’m speculating.

Why pay the premium on the watch and then ask? Otherwise, like MSFT, a tax free investment never to be worn. |

All modern rolexes are mass produced items. They’ll never be as expensive as previous models at auction. Yeah you’ll lose some money wearing it but the enjoyment is priceless. Stocks are probably a better investment over time, plus you avoid your great grand children sell the watch because in 2099 there’s gonna be another quartz craze.

Wear it.
Removing the stickers and gaining some desk-diving wear won't affect value massively. The enjoyment you'll get from wearing it will far exceed the minimal value reduction. ![]() |

I bought one at retail right before disco, but haven't worn it yet. Maybe one day.
I primarily wear vintage. Sent from my SM-G781U1 using Tapatalk |

Someone needs to fire up and watch “Toy Story 2”:
Woody got played with. It made him “worth” less, but he was loved. Stinky Pete remained BNiB. Minty, if you will, but loved by no one. The purpose of a toy is to be played with. The purpose of a watch is to be worn. I totally get wanting to keep your watch pristine, but we get in our far more expensive cars and drive them every day. What is the difference in value in the watch worn versus pretty darn worn? Probably not $5k, right? Like others here on TRF, I really, truly enjoy wearing my watches. Obviously I could buy a perfectly good watch for far, far less. I wore my Yachtmaster daily for 20 years through some pretty amazing milestones in my life. It was “Mom’s watch” for my kids growing up. I’m making new memories with my recently-acquired 16200 DateJust. I also enjoy my newest acquisition, my vintage Tudor Princess “snowflake” style-Submariner (the ladies’ version of the blue Tudor snowflake Sub). I’ve never seen another one like it in my life. I have no idea how many owners it’s had, but it was not babied at all and it’s still going strong. As I write, I have expensive bottles of wine in my cellar, getting older each day. The winemakers poured their effort into them so that the wine would be enjoyable to drink. Decades ago, the then-wine writers for the “Wall Street Journal” started “Open That Bottle Night,” to give people like me the excuse to open that “special” bottle that’s been sitting around, waiting for the “perfect” moment that may never come. Readers were invited to share their stories. It was wonderful to read story after story of people enjoying the bottles (which often came with memories of certain people). I started adopting that, and have been pulling up super-special bottles and opening them, particularly during all of these crazy times, lockdowns, etc. Just as wearing a Rolex makes the mundane act of checking the wrist to see what time it is a special thing, so a wonderful bottle of wine makes the act of eating dinner special. I have friends in their early 70s with far, far more expensive wine opening bottles to enjoy with with friends and family. If you just can’t bring yourself to wear it, I suggest you buy one that’s already worn, and enjoy it. Buying a used watch, I’ve found, is the best way to get over the thought of putting the first scratch in a Rolex. |

NUBE question alert....
With some advising to put it away for 20 as it could be worth a small fortune.... Isn't there a chance that Rolex reintroduces a newer version of the Hulk at some point? There seems to be a notion that we will never, ever see an all green sub again. If a newer version is introduced, couldn't that potentially curtail the skyrocketing value of the previous gen? |

There are too many out there including BNIB for it to ever be worth serious $$$$. It isn't worth putting it away for a decade.

You obviously paid a little more because you knew you would enjoy a new one much more. Now start enjoying it!
