Great photos!
I’d totally use as a desk diving clock! |

![]() We all know that no-one can ever even begin to reach the depth this, or in fact even the humble Submariner, is capable of with scuba gear. (OK the World Record is 332 meters set by Ahmed Gabr in 2014, but mere mortals will never get even close). We also know that no diver these days needs a mechanical watch, although some decide to use one as a backup. We also know that 99% of dive watches will never see water deeper than the deep end of a swimming pool. This means that all the guff about "tool watch" is nothing more than marketing spin these days: something to make all us desk-divers in our comfy offices and home studies feel like big tough '60's pioneers. (And yes I'm a desk diving Submariner owner as well). BUT, the beauty of most dive watches is that even though they have the credentials to plunge into the abyss if needs be, they ALSO wear perfectly nicely, and don't make you look like a 5 year old kid taking his dad's watch to show and tell! 99% of people will look ridiculous wearing the Challenge. Period. Yes I get that it's a niche piece to flip the finger to Omega, yes it's an interesting novelty for collectors to hoard away and stare at once in a while, yes it's quite the feat of mechanical engineering, and yes I'm sure there will be some who simply MUST have this in their collection at all costs (which will probably make it a flipper's paradise sadly). But there's no getting way from the fact it's a solution to a problem that no-one, and I mean NO-ONE, has, and it's basically unwearable in the "land world" if you have even a shred of sartorial elegance. It genuinely is a £22K paperweight. ![]() I think it's an absolutely hilarious piece!

It's an OP36 with a concentric dial. I traded it on a 114060 as it was my first Rolex.

for this watch to be a "feat of engineering" it would be 45mm and 17 mm thick- that would be clever.
Simply burying the movement inside massively thicker metal and sapphire case is meh

It may not necessarily be a particularly good paperweight as they made it as light as possible ![]() Personally, I could only see myself wearing it to please myself whilst snorkelling out off the back of my boat whilst anchored off the wrecks over at the island. Having said that, the price of admission to the club would cover my fuel costs for the boat for a good many years, so we have to weigh(no pun intended) up the whole cost benefit analysis. To that end, people should be free to please themselves how they chose to enjoy it. |

![]() Let's face it. This is venturing into decent full PM watch territory if one was so inclined. Depending on lifestyles, at least there's a better chance of enjoying a full PM piece on more occassions ![]() |

Don't accidently hit the door frame with this watch, you'll be putting in a new door frame!

I think Leviathan could be an appropriate nickname for this one.

Deepsea Monster Hands On
I see this watch only as a collector piece or for showing off. I thought it was a joke when I saw it on social media. Nope, this thing is unfortunately real.
SMH Rolex. Apparently they see Invicta as competition these days. |

Agree 100%, at least Omega realized their record holding watch was a research/marketing exercise and released a wearable watch with a bonus of no helium escape valve.

It doesn`t look bigger than some bulky sport watches (Suunto, Garmin etc.) people wear.

I think they made it that size to assist the wearer to achieve the given depth rating. Then someone somewhere along the way gave the buyers some mercy and made it in titanium.

Got the opportunity to try one on yesterday. It is indeed a monster. Whilst I just about have the wrists to pull off the diameter of it, the thickness is ridiculous. The weight and balance is pretty good all things considered.
