I posted earlier about a different company for replicas, however I ultimately went with this Mid-Century lounge chair & ottoman from Modterrior.

I walked by Design Within Reach today and took this pic. The black and white pattern is interesting to me.

That hurts my eyes. I wonder if you would quickly tire of this selection.

Visual motion sensitivity results in dizziness

I've been wanting one for years. I had one designed in their website builder but didn't order it.

We tend to move a lot so I've been hesitant to buy any more furniture until I know I'll be in one place a while. All of my furniture has damage from moving.

6'' here and happy I made the decision for the tall version, I like to rest my head on the back when listening to music.
I don't think this would really be possible with the original dimensions?

I could throw it into the back of my Volvo and take it out camping, yes might get some patina with that

So reflecting back- my favorite uncle (who worked as an auto company exec) and his wife (who was a secretary for a union shop in Michigan and had an honest-to-god picture with Jimmy Hoffa with the office girls) had an Eames chair and white leopard print couch. I spent lots of time at their house.

I always had a dream of getting an “Uncle Nelson” chair - even as a kid I thought they were cool. I bought a (new) Eames chair and let me tell you - the joy I get sitting and looking at this magnificent snap shot of mid century wonder is just fantastic. Anyone - anyone who would purchase a Rolex (over lots of perfectly adequate copies) should understand the satisfaction of just having the real deal. I enjoy it every.single.day.

Tremendous, that rain will definitely give some patina
Thing cost me twice of what I paid for my Rolex Oyster, not taking it camping bud

It will look a lot better with a few spark holes in it.

My father dealt in antiques and we always had an Eames chair or two in the house while I was growing up.

As someone with many thousands of ass-hours in Eames chairs, here are my thoughts:

- Go vintage for one reason: older Eames chairs were available with wonderfully-figured Brazilian rosewood shells, which are just stunning. In comparison, the woods used in more modern Eames chairs looks quite dull. I think an Eames looks best with a little glow to the leather; an older/used example with rosewood and nicely-loved leather gives off warmth like a fireplace.

- If you buy an Eames with rosewood shells, save the receipt and make sure it specifies that the chair was optioned with rosewood. Should anything happen to the chair and you need to replace it, you'll want your home insurer to cover the cost of a chair that's also equipped with rosewood, and that can get expensive. Ask me how I know.

- The chairs look amazing, but I don't find them terribly comfortable. They're very low and close to the ground, so if your knees are weak it can be quite hard to sit in/stand up from an Eames chair. Definitely try before you buy.

- They're generally pretty solid, but if you have kids that thrash around, or are an adult that fidgets when seated, there are some weak points: the decorative buttons can be torn from the cushions, the cushions can be pulled off the shells (they're held in place with clips that can be bent), and the metal arms that join the wooden shells can get a little loose.

That said, every kid should have a chance to relax in, and spin around in an Eames chair. Watching movies from an Eames was one of the highlights of my childhood. If the chair breaks, it can be fixed.

I enjoy Eames chairs more as attractive objects than as practical, comfy chairs, but based on the comments in this thread I'm in the minority.

Always loved them. They're just too expensive for me to justify (new).
