Can I trust that the AI is telling me the truth? ChatGPT is not connected to the internet, and it can occasionally produce incorrect answers. It has limited knowledge of world and events after 2021 and may also occasionally produce harmful instructions or biased content. We'd recommend checking whether responses from the model are accurate or not. If you find an answer is incorrect, please provide that feedback by using the "Thumbs Down" button. i do think it can be a disruptor or cause someone to create one, i was just saying it might be in a different way than eliminating google searches. i mean it can already read/write code which is insanely impressive for how early it is and the possibilities are endless with what it can do from here theoretically. i just don't necessarily think their goal is to provide search results because of how it's designed to work currently. i feel like it's setting up to be an actual robot you can have conversations with as if it was a human, but i've also been wrong on so many things so this would just be another lol |

ChatGPT - More revolutionary than Google
Good debate you two…
As info Google’s AI chatbot named Bard stumbled badly as it was connected to the internet a day ago. I think you both are onto the the right tempo on AI. Few will remember Lisa and her cousin Newton - but everyone knows Mac & iPad. The former pair were disruptive but unsuccessful - the latter two wouldn’t have made it without the learnings from early failure. This technology may enable a disruptive inflection in knowledge worker ranks since 90% of help desk efforts are simple rote “have you tried turning it off and on again” routines. Code developers should note that conversational requests can allow AI to write code that works 90% of the time. Nascent for sure - but remember the year it began - and gird yer loins for the Luddites assembling behind the stone walls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I write a lot of complex formulas in Excel and I always have a hard time explaining the logic behind it. What I like about chatGPT is I am able to copy and paste my formulas into it and it can explain it for me to someone as if they are a 5 year old child.

Google employees are internally mocking the company's Bard AI chatbot announcement, calling it 'rushed' and 'botched' in series of memes.

My boss showed this to me while waiting for a meeting. All I have to say is - I wish I had this tool in undergrad lol. It doesn't write a master's level thesis, but it's good for outlining and gathering topics to cover.

Maybe it should be shut down immediately?

Disturbing. Now it's making things up.
https://nypost.com/2023/04/07/chatgp...exual-assault/ “It invented an allegation where I was on the faculty at a school where I have never taught, went on a trip that I never took, and reported an allegation that was never made,” he told The Post. “It is highly ironic because I have been writing about the dangers of AI to free speech.” The 61-year-old legal scholar first became aware of the AI’s false allegation after receiving an email from UCLA professor Eugene Volokh, who reportedly asked ChatGPT to cite “five examples” of “sexual harassment” by professors at American law schools along with “quotes from relevant newspaper articles.” Among the supplied examples were an alleged 2018 incident in which “Georgetown University Law Center” professor Turley was accused of sexual harassment by a former female student. ChatGPT quoted an fake Washington Post article, writing: “The complaint alleges that Turley made ‘sexually suggestive comments’ and ‘attempted to touch her in a sexual manner’ during a law school-sponsored trip to Alaska.” Suffice it to say, Turley found a “number of glaring indicators that the account is false.” ‘We need to study the implications of AI for free speech and other issues, including defamation. There is an immediate need for legislative action.’ Jonathan Turley, telling The Post about his push for swift changes in the AI landscape. “First, I have never taught at Georgetown University,” the aghast lawyer declared. “Second, there is no such Washington Post article.” He added, “Finally, and most important, I have never taken students on a trip of any kind in 35 years of teaching, never went to Alaska with any student and I’ve never been been accused of sexual harassment or assault.” BING Chatbot repeated the accusation.

The whole infatuation with AI is just another symptom of a society deteriorating rapidly. I sometimes feel like I’m the only one whose ever watched T2….
