Here's another: An OP with a subsidiary seconds dial. Maybe made exclusive to a (still nonexistent) PM OP.

I say OP because I don't like that look on a watch with a date (particularly a dat at 3:00), but could easily be something else, like an Air King or Milgauss.

I think they would add on an extra $10k or $20k for the perpetual, so I would settle for an annual calendar with moon phase.

A larger DSC that goes deeper than the ocean. But seriously, I want Rolex to challenge Omega on building a Mars (space)watch.

Bioceramic options of all models….. Seriously I would also like a clear case back option - it would make fake watches a lot easier to identify due to the regulation on the balance wheel.

Rolex doesn‘t need to do anything to gain upscale reputation. Omega can surpass Rolex in every objective category and there will still be waiting lists for Rolex.

The Crown has already added titanium and I predict there will be more models in that metal in the coming years, since they‘ve already made a titanium Yacht-Master for Sir Ben.

The other items you list will not be offered, possibly ever, or at least not in the next 10 to 20 years.

Rolex movements aren‘t worthy of display casebacks. What are the adjectives used to describe their movements? Reliable (other than the 32xx), sturdy, solid, durable, accurate (other than 32xx), etc. not beautiful, stunning, magnificently finished.

Didn’t realize that about the DJ. I love the case and shape of the Daytona and YM. Wish they made a GMT or Explorer2 in that size.

I was going to say I don’t really have anything else I would want from Rolex - but this is a good one. I just worry that I would want to sell the two I own for the new clasps

Apart from werewolves (an exclusive customer base), who would find moon phases useful?

They're doing that to an extent behind the scenes eg. The Sir Ben Ainslie titanium YM40 that is not available for civilian purchase.
That ship has long since sailed - GShocks have sewn up that market

Mechanical watches are anachronisms, and never be cutting edge tools.

And if you stop making them out of gold and platinum, with diamonds stuck all over them, then where do your profits come from?

A fully brushed titanium Explorer 36 would be the tooliest of tool watches.

It is not about usefulness, it is about aesthetics.

Looking at the moon (and planets and stars) is awe inspiring. But I know when they can be seen by looking up - I don’t need a watch to tell me.

And I don’t need judgemental comments from you

Hmmmm, it's not all about waiting lists though, so I would disagree about Rolex not needing to do anything to gain an "upscale reputation"....IF they even want to do that of course!

There's absolutely no disputing the unassailable power of the Rolex brand, but Rolex simply aren't high horology, which could be described as "up-scale". If they wanted to become a high horology house, then they'd absolutely need to start offering things like perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, tourbillons, rattrapantes, etc.

You said yourself that Rolex movements are NOT described as beautiful, stunning, magnificently finished. All of those things (and more) would need to happen if Rolex was to enter the realm of true high horology.

Of course, Rolex probably have absolutely no desire to be any more up-scale than they currently are, as the brand caché means that consumers want literally whatever they make, and in numbers far exceeding supply. Plus they can charge pretty much whatever price they like. It's an enviable position for any company to be in.

But the point remains that IF (and it's a big IF) Rolex wanted to move more up-scale and become a true high horology brand, then they would need to start offering some more interesting movements.
