EITHER Askmen achieved exactly what they wanted, a server overload of responses(gimmick), or Dwayne Smith's girl left him for a guy who wears a ROLEX...

Pity the infidel. It should be blatantly obvious that his mother did many bad things while Mr. Smith was in utero. In fact, this walking medical anomaly provided the inspiration for the song, "If I only had a brain."

The author sounds like a brat with a grudge. Maybe someone wearing a Rolex teased him once when he was younger.

I'm glad it got everyone talking. Like with any great high-profile brand, Rolex isn't just built on big advertising and showmanship, it really stands the test of time and holds it value in the eyes of Rolex owners as well as those who wish to own one. Anyone who wishes to dismiss this fact isn't familiar enough with the subject to comment.

I guess "some" of his arguments are true to a small degree. However, the author obviously has no idea about quality time pieces. It's difficult to digest his rant due to his ignorance.

I own a cheap Chinese automatic, a Japanese quartz, and a Swiss Omega, and I would love to get a Rolex someday. They are my babies and each brings a smile to my face. I am not the biggest fan of Rolex, but I appreciate Rolex' innovation and business model. Are they overpriced? I would say "Yes" from a bang for buck point of view. However, I reserve the day I purchase my first Daytona as the day I finally arrived. Will I want a Patek after that? You betcha!!!

btw I am tall, shaped, and good looking. No need to impress with name brand watches. I simply adore the craftsmanship of wrist watches. I never cared for watches in school. Until I found my Swatch (first watch, it was a gift, automatic) in parent's storage. I realized it had a display back and it fascinated me. The rest is history. Anyway just wanted to share.

written to create controversy, mildly amusing in a fictional manner, agreed about the marketing hype and celebrity endorsement

The author is one bitchy loser (sorry but that's the only definition his article deserves: no substance, just a lot of bitter BS).
