They are just so solid and timeless.

Frankly it has kept me from buying a Tudor which I love but just can't seem to pull the trigger when for a bit more I can buy a nice vintage Rolex.
That’s funny. Was yours a blue two tone DJ? I even wore it with gold fading and all lol. I’m also holding back on a Tudor primarily a Pelagos 39 just because it’s difficult to get it here locally. Maybe perhaps the small challenge and excitement but I know that if I end up getting one, it wouldn’t be worn as much.

Absolutely agree. No one cares, no one notices. I still put on my $110 transparent G Shock Casioak in regular rotation with my Rolex watches. Will continue to do so. I've actually had more compliments on that than any Rolex LOL.

I used to feel special with a Rolex but quickly got over it. Not I feel no different with Rolex vs other watches. Except for watch meet ups no one cares.

Lol.. Thanks for the input. I guess I'm a certain battlefield PS3 game snob as well, ducatiti is my PS3 username :) Ducati name was taken so I added another "ti"... "TT" actually means something for a certain asian language haha.

Just wanted to share and totally not proud of it but I have been #1 on the leaderboards overall for this game. Loser alert! :)

For a consumer (as opposed to someone who is “in the business”), all luxury goods are fundamentally emotional decisions. Whether it’s a watch, car, clothes, restaurants, shoes, houses, sporting equipment or travel, when you’re buying at the luxury level there always are less expensive alternatives. And often those cheaper alternatives might even be more functional than the luxury version! There is nothing rational about paying really high prices to get the luxury version. We buy the expensive ones because we enjoy them. Why we enjoy them varies from person to person.

But it all comes down to enjoyment, and there is little use in trying to explain why we like the things we like. It’s REALLY pointless to try to suggest that someone else’s reason for liking the same thing you like, is an inferior reason to your own reason.

For many it’s a milestone, an achievement, an heirloom, even an investment. Sorry but a Rolex is just not a watch.

Apparently you just want to wear the Rolex, so why would you not just get rid of the others. What do you care what anyone else thinks, unless you are wearing it for them, hence the wearing proudly, because if you wore it for you, what do you care what people here think.

I don’t think that’s crazy, on the contrary, I quite know that feeling. In the process of reorganizing my collection currently. When I’ll be done with that, the percentage of Rolex will have increased by quite a bit. Going from under 28% to over 42%, with the exact reason you mention, those are the watches I actually wear.

I know what you mean op. I gravitate towards my rolex as well over the rest of my collection. Rolex is just so easier to wear and checks all the boxes for me.

It's kind of strange that among various forums there is a real sentiment against Rolex watches. Many believe that Rolex plays games with supply and demand and have a real anti-Rolex attitude. I personally have a collection which has both Roex and various other brands but Rolex will always be front and center in the collection. For those who are antagonistic to the brand because they have a hard time purchasing, I find that akin to the sour grapes Aesop's fable. For many it's a love hate relationship. I'd love to own won but I can't, easily; there for I hate them. To many wearing a Rolex is a display of snobbery. I understand the perspective but as an owner I just don't agree.

I think the reason for this is envy.

People don't usually envy a VC, AP, Patek, because they don't even know these brands are even exists, as these are not advertised for the masses. But they envy for a Rolex, because they think that those are the best watches of the Earth, and the most expensive, which only the richest can buy.

I don't think you're being snob-ish, you just really like the brand. I've had APs and one Patek, but I still prefer to keep my Rolex-es. There is beauty in simplicity (now I sound like a Rolex snob ).

I have a story I have told on here before but want to again. In the same mall as my AD, I have a friend who works at one of the other stores. I stop by and visit with him often. Over the last 10 years I have shown him every new Rolex. He compliments me, asks me questions, congratulates me. He is also a WIS. His brand of choice? Invicta. He buys watches that are literally less then 1/100th of the cost of my Rolex. I will tell you his amount of enjoyment from his watch is NO less then my enjoyment from mine. Whenever he buys a new one, he shows it to me, explains why he likes this particular model, new ones that are supposed to be coming out. I listen intently, examine his new Invicta as closely as he does my Rolex, I congratulate him on any new one he gets. I can tell you the smile on his face is no less then the one on mine. I have no less respect for him spending $100 on a watch then I do on a person that spends 100 times that on a Rolex. It is all about respect, buying and wearing what you enjoy, and sharing in this great hobby. If Rolex is your thing (as it is mine) then more power to you. If Casio is, then more power to you. We all share the love of watches.

Sure. Just purchased it to celebrate my 50th birthday April 30. Could not find anything more tiffing. To me this is a very special watch. Don’t think I’ll sell it ever.

Some one can flash me a Patek, how much of of the price for manufacturing it went to American working families?

Next to a similar watch and a dress watch

It’s inevitable to wear a Rolex in 2023 and getting judged. The latest models are too blingy and out there and with what’s going on in the market, people will talk that you’re an elitist and we are just wearing a Rolex to show off. It’s such a shame.

don't think that sound like snobbery, as long as u are not showing it off or being a douche about it
if someone comment about it, great else just be low profile ... many people can afford one so its not really that special

I don’t think it’s snobbery but sometimes I feel the inverse. I love my Rolex and wearing them constantly but there are many days I reach for something else instead. There are a ton of new subs and GMTs out there, so I prefer to have something off the beaten path. I almost prefer the feeling of wearing a vintage deep cut and bonding with someone who knows what it is rather than wearing just another modern Rolex. Plenty of people out there wearing modern stuff because of the hype around it rather than the love of collecting.

I use my Rolexes in rotation with a couple of Omegas, Sinns, Seikos and one Breitling.

No fixed routine to my rotation, it's pretty much random.

i on the other hand very seldom wear my rolexes. i find myself sticking to 2 or 3 watches.

i think it's maturity or wanting the alternative.

but i would hold on to it until my son is ready

Maybe has a better feeling than any other mass produced high street brand but certainly not like no other watch, high horology brands using hand finishing do have ‘that’ feel, so much more special and exclusive
