I like the idea of it and following it.

However I massively disagree with how the organization is run.

I hung my Olympic Flag in front of my house today. I'll be watching...

As a whole, meh. But every once in a while someone like Usain Bolt comes around that just floors me, so I pay a little attention.

Cycling used to entertain me, and one of my main goals in life was to work the Olympics for USAC. But when Kristen Armstrong was chosen over Carmen Small for Rio, I knew then and there that the good ol’ boys club ran deep, and the odds of me ever getting in were just about 0.

That's said, I do enjoy the track and field events. Amazing athletes. In that regard, I have always been both amazed and frustrated with Gymnastics. Pound for pound some of the best athletes ever, yet their standing is based on someone's opinion. That always bothers me. The fastest across the line, longest or highest jump, farthest stick launch, all these are matter of fact. Judged outcomes can be suspect.

So now after seeing the news about what went on with the so called entertainment in Paris for the opening ceremony I will be boycotting the entire Olympics.

There’s no way I’m normalizing this by starting to watch it and I believe the whole thing is sick and the world has gone mad.

Here in Australia the Queensland State Government is preparing to spend $4B + on the 2032 Olympics. We have a Health system in chaos with continual 'Ambulance ramping' because there are woefully inadequate numbers of beds to be had in the hospitals and a shortage of staff to attend them. So-called Highways throughout the State that are narrow and in poor repair. An under-funded State Education system that tries to push people into Private Schools. A shortage of Aged-care accomodation and a massive shortage of housing in general throughout the country.
The irresponsibility of spending this kind of money on an Olympics (for inadequate financial return) has apparantly been lost on the government with it's " Let them eat cake" attitude. It is all about the expediency of the politicians and their belief that it will somehow help them to get re-elected and look good on their "legacy Resume".

Watch it again during the John Lennon song when they sing "No Greed Or Hunger" and which country they chose to be on the video. There was quite a bit of... undertones. As we know from proper schooling, French culture has an interesting history.

Snoop Dogg was an Olympic commentator - wtf?

Some guy with painted fingernails was talking to some chick I didn’t know who it was about his fingernails - double wtf?

Is that Moby? - why is Moby rapping?

At that point I changed it to the Mecum auction.

I believe it boils down to society in general. You’ve got x amount of people that are steadfast 100% believers of a certain way of doing things. If those x amount of people get a strong enough voice they start the process of their thinking filtering into the x amount of people that didn’t have an opinion and generally don’t care. Then those people become advocates for whatever specific agenda (you can insert anything into that agenda).

The media will pick up on anything they believe can divide us and then shove it down everyone’s throat to elicit a response. This can happen at the early stages of a movement or at any other time. So basically the media can run with something and make us all believe it’s millions of people when it’s actually thousands.

Politicians will take up whatever taking points they believe will get them elected (on either side of the aisle and in between).

We are at a pivotal time in America and it appears the west in general. I don’t know what to do other than be as good of a role model as I can be and treat all I meet with respect even if I don’t agree with them. I will continue to stand my what my God says, that we are not the ones to judge, he is. And I will stand for my countries constitution which in my opinion affords the same freedoms to every single individual nationalized under this flag regardless of their race, gender, religion, occupation, political/ social beliefs or sexual orientation.

IMO what makes our country the greatest is we are the original melting pot. Sure we have made mistakes and will continue to, hopefully we learn from them. When we have previously fought for America it was never a specific group of individuals, it was people from all walks of life, all races, all religions that all fought for the same freedoms and cause. It’s hard to beat someone when you can’t define them by one simple act or another. We need to not let this stuff divide us but stand together because the more divided we become the larger a target on our backs from those that wish us harm.

Yeah, it made no sense. I don’t have a problem with Snoop but it did not compute in my mind why he was commenting on the opening ceremony.

I also understand they dumped baseball for breakdancing? I knew breakdancing was a thing back in the late 90’s, has it made a comeback or something?
