Meanwhile on my travels

Today, In Karachi Pakistan the mall AD had quite the availability....everything for sale...sadly the high sales tax rate makes it one of the higher retail priced countries but they are willing to discount slightly to make the prices more palatable....still pretty decent selection...also had full gold gmt and two tone gmt models for sale...

Things have improved a lot. I just picked up a very nice watch from my AD this week. And was offered a nice watch a month or so back that I passed on. And I’m not any sort of VIP so…

I enjoy browsing in watch stores but I’m usually only after one specific watch at a time. I can’t think of a single Rolex model I would buy on impulse just because it was available and offered. So not having anything for sale might mean something different to me.

AD visit today, I was on west coast today and visited my local AD, well guys and girls it was the worst experience ever!

The SA was very nice until she asked me what I was interested in? Her response was well we have a fine selection of pre-owned 2024 models.
So I replied great let’s see what is available. There were 2 display cases full of everything you could think of every green dial you could think of SD jubilee, oyster , DJ 41 green dial fluted jubilee, Pepsi both bracelets, etc…..

I did not ask for anything in particular, she showed me an 11 series panda and ask me for $34K? Wow was my reaction, she said , that the reason for the price was that they had to pay market price for them.

I did not even ask for the price on anything else. Then she said, I can put on the famous wait list , it will be 5-10 years for any Rolex? I smiled and said thank you.

This is AD operating as a grey dealer in plain sight? No Rolex CPO
Never seen anything like this.

The funny thing is the great reviews on the service they give and how they treat their customers. I did not let it bother me, they are in a posh area where they can get away with this in plain sight.

That might be worth an email to Rolex customer service… just so they are aware…

Are there no ADs that sell pre owned Rolex outside of the CPO program?

Mide does but they don't have a lot of them. They didn't have any last week.

I think you guys are right on and correct, I think, I should send an email to Rolex.
I had never seen so many 2024 watches that were used? There were a few older references 3-4 but not that many.

I did not want to get into a debate with the SA how were there so many 2024 watches in case? What happened the customers went outside with their new watches and decided to sell them back for a profit? Very weird scenario and I guess the 40% AD margin is not enough when you can get a 80%-130% margin.

It was sickening to see this. I would been happier with the display only signs and the famous AD line you have to understand Rolex are in very high demand and there are none available for sale.

Very sad to see this happening. But no matter we will continue friends.
