How about movement u ask…. Well, u have hacking second position yet no zero reset mechanism like offered by Lange or many other independents. Isn’t it lazy??? How about a sports watch having control over winding mechanism so one can engage in rigorous sports activities like offered by Urwerk or RM? Of course not, that would be too much innovation for a brand with 200+ years of watchmaking!

So what does this watch offer? Hype, full stop…. People hope it would be a repeat of Nautilus success. It ain’t, look at gold version of this watch. It trades below retail.

Now, there are good attributes associated with this watch and I understand why some find it attractive. Yet masterpiece it ain’t!!,

So you’re not a fan, we all get it. But literally nothing you have written here makes this anything less than a special watch.

No micro adjustment, well neither does a nautilus or Royal Oak or Laureato. I am sure there will be no issue with owners finding a link combination to give them enough comfort on the wrist. Especially with this stainless steel version. There is the overseas if you want micro adjustment, or even a quick change strap mechanism.

As for power reserve, it’s on the low side but this is an ultra thin movement. The 15202 had the same, 16202 has increased to 50, but search for reliability issues, many owners report that they don’t get that much. But it’s an automatic anyway, so the extra hours would be great but certainly not crucial. As for the 5811, 35-45 hours.

As for hacking seconds, do you think that VC could not introduce hacking seconds if it was needed? Non hacking movements were normal for decades from AP and PP and VC, if you want the precision and accuracy when time setting, you may choose a quartz watch anyway.

And putting this watch into the same context as an Urwerk or RM, well I won’t even bother responding to that other than to say - wrong segment, wrong buyer, a very unusual comparison.

Not everything is for everyone, and for each person who dislikes it as much as you, there will be plenty who would love to own and wear a historic release such as this. Me included among them.

There are plenty of other offerings from Vacheron, other than the 222, that can tickle your fancy and address the features you have mentioned. That’s the beauty of VC, so many offerings, perhaps something for everyone. This one is certainly for me.

I'm glad to see VC expanding the 222 options to suit different tastes. While I absolutely love my YG 222, not everyone is a fan of the metal.



VC filling the void where Patek decided to leave with the 5711 and AP currently gatekeeping with the jumbo until you buy their entire collection first.

Are they doing like AP where only the watches produced in 2025 will have the 270 badging? Or will it be present even in 2026 production watches?

I’m still hoping for an ultra thin white gold 2000V. I’ve been hoping for this for 3 years now.

I can also see the 2024 green dials used in the overseas stainless steel models.
