I have no interest at all in participating in the celebration.

I also agree with the Esquire article that it seems lately that Rolex is making a conscious decision to make some of their highly sought after pieces extremely limited runs to build even more hype and frenzy.

i.e. WG Le Mans, 41mm coral/yellow, Celebration etc.

For those who may still be waiting, keep pestering your AD.

Discontinued references can still trickle in for up to 6-8 months after they fall off the website.

Yep, and often a larger influx of quantity around the end of production.

I really should gatekeep better....

In the cold light of day it's a bit of a daft dial. If anybody but Rolex did it it would be drowned in derision.

Cool watch, but still prefer the plain Jane turquoise dial. I’ve had this in rotation for nearly two years now and really enjoy it.

Sometimes. I got my coral red OP41 in late February of ‘22, three weeks later it was gone. My SA says they got a dozen of them over the 18 month run, mine was the last. From my recollections no one saw that coming, wasn’t part of the annual rumor mill.

I think it was a surprise but then again they did the same with the stella dials

My AD just received two within the last year, so it was pretty clear that I wouldn't get the chance. However, my trusted seller in Spain was able to source an original Rolex dial for me. Since I had a black OP41, it was an easy swap. Couldn't be happier :)
This might be an easier route, compared to the ADs.

I think it's a good idea for Rolex to have more hype watches to help spread the demand more evenly across their whole product range.

You have to catch the train before/when it’s at the station. Not after it has left.

I'd be very curious to know how a seller was able to source an OEM celebration dial. Rolex doesn't sell these openly, nor would they swap dials according to the RSC in NYC. How did the seller ensure authenticity?

I was wondering the same thing. I know a lot of sellers are buying black or blue OPs and substituting aftermarket dials, so I’d be very cautious buying one that way. It’s original from an AD, for me, or forget about it. Since it was released, my AD got exactly 1 41 mm:

At least, I got to try it on. Some folks have never even seen one IRL. I want a 36mm.

I was thinking the same thing. Rolex is very stingy with their spare parts, I can’t imagine them giving out a Celebration dial unless it was a defect replacement at an RSC.
I know there are aftermarket dials out there, have seen some on 47th St who clearly admit that.

To get a celebration dial in the UK ,it’s exchange only , strictly enforced. My AD had a Black 41 OP in the used section. I asked his Service dept if I bought it could it be serviced and the dial swapped,After talking with Rolex UK it was a straight no .

To be fair that’s why you need the white tag , it gives the model and dial combination.

Yeah. I'd imagine global RSC policy is pretty consistent on this. Otherwise it would get abused. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but this would really be a unusual situation.

There is a reason that it took almost a year for them to source me a dial. The dial came from a new celebration OP41. The buyer bought the watch initially for his daughter but she preferred the plain Tiffany dial. So my trusted seller swapped it. The Tiffany dials (and other initial colors) were available from Rolex when they were launched. Just after the hype started, Rolex limited the supply.
With the celebration dials you basically have to wait until somebody wants to swap his dial so that you can purchase one. It will take time but it does happen.
I have no reason to doubt my seller, since they are a well established watch dealer in Marbella for over 20 years already. I’m glad it worked out and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
