They got slaughtered on sales last year. I believe they had the biggest drop in year-over-year sales of any major Swiss brand. They were a big success story over the last decade, but the sheen apprears to be wearing off. Maybe too much reliance on the Black Bay? Not sure.

I am a huge Tudor fan and probably have 12 or so. I need to count. When I got into Rolex in the early 90's Tudor was not on my radar and until they reemerged in the 2010's in the U.S. I did not have much interest. I have done all the reading and enjoyed discussions about Tudor being the Poor mans Rolex. Maybe, OK, not really or what ever answer you would like to submit. For me they work. Great watches, cool cases and dial designs and a price point that works for most of the models for me. I also have about a dozen Rolex watches and the Tudors get about twice the wear that the Rolex watches do. I am an always and forever Rolex fan but I do appreciate the Tudors for what they are.

For me it was at the 25 year mark with Rolex products. The reason was the BB Pro that I like.

But I don't have a general love for the other models of the brand. It has a niche defined by the public, albeit ignominiously, as a poor persons Rolex.

The key line here is “ I do appreciate tudors for what they are” ; they can be and are a watch enthusiast’s watch for many. I enjoy my bb58 blue as part of my collection and don’t need it to be “ a Rolex” or higher end brand. To me, a nice looking good quality watch/value.

Every once in a while I’ll think I may add a Tudor, the thought never lasts.

Frankly, no.

For the money they are asking I’d just buy other brands, or just spend more on a Rolex.

I can appreciate Tudor. It is an experiment lab for Rolex and subject to Rolex quality scrutiny.

I don’t own one, every time I look I have pulled the trigger on a Rolex. Just a personal decision.

Tudor makes high quality watches.

Check out the Acquired podcast on Rolex. The hosts talk about the Rolex strategy with Tudor toward the end of the podcast.

No.

If you love the brand there is some real bang for the buck in used Tudors. They are solid watches.

If you think it will scratch the Rolex itch at half the price…it won’t. Rolex is simply worth the delta. Bracelets, finishing, value retention etc.

Don’t get me wrong, the Daytona is a kick ass watch but there’s just something about the Tudor panda that resonates with me. Couple that with the fact that I am in sales so a Rolex is not always welcome when I go see customers.

I use to feel this way but 1) Nobody will notice your watch 2) If they do, wouldn't they want to know that you're successful i.e. a lot of people have done deals with you, and therefore I'm more comfortable to do a deal with you?

on one hand, it's enjoyable to see what Tudor comes up with next. on the other hand, a lot of their releases just barely miss the mark (in my opinion). i do appreciate their push forward with materials and whatnot...just kinda wish they'd add date complications, and get rid of gilt finishes and off-white colors.

despite that, there are more "damn....i want that" pieces in their catalog than in Rolex's.

I think they hit a home run with the pink and blue flamingo models, seem to be scarce.

If only they would make their watches thinner. Love my BB54, but have either sold or given away all the others I've had.

No. If I had $4k, I'd just save another $6k and buy a Rolex.

I do not like Tudor crowns, clasps, bracelets, faux patina (Rolex never does that), faux rivets, snowflake hands (mismatch with round hour markers) and purposeful lower quality.

Spot on. I have Rolex, Breguet, Omega, MB&F, Breitling and Tudor in my lineup. They all get equal time. In fact, the Tudors may get more time. There is just something about my GMT and Chrono Tudors that I really enjoy, mainly the look of the faces. They just pop for me.

Yes but there are way more pink Chronos out there than say the new Harrods 175 special edition but yet no one seems to talk about those which is odd?

If it were just that simple to get a Rolex then many would be doing just that. But it's not easy to get a Rolex.

I agree with you about the faux rivets and faux patina. I was turned off on the new BB Coke GMT for that very reason. However, the GMT and Chrono that I own has none of that and I added a Tudor 5 link bracelet to get rid of the ugly faux rivets. The 5 link bracelet also comes with a T fit clasp, which in my opinion, is just as good as it's Rolex counterpart. I think as Tudor releases more models they will make them available on the 5 link as well.

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that.

My AD hosted a special invite only Tudor party last year. I went assuming I’d pick up a watch.

I just couldn’t find any that did it. And talking with many others at the party (a lot of Rolex enthusiasts) they felt the same.

Maybe they’re just less of a bargain. One small step up and you’re in Omega, Cartier, GS land.

I’ve had three Tudors over the years. First were a Hydronaut and Tiger Chrono in the late 90’s just as they were leaving the US market. Third was a Heritage Chrono sourced from the Philippines when you still couldn’t get them here.
I haven’t owned a modern one yet but am hoping to get a pink Chrono from my local dealer. Kind of getting impatient.

Their vintage stuff is great. I like the Big Block, blue subs, different variations of the Monte Carlo, a Ranger on a leather strap and the U.S. Navy subs. The best bang for the buck could be the Heritage Chrono with the Breitling movement that has a column wheel and vertical clutch..

Love my blue Pelagos.

I'd love to have a a Rolex 116619LB but that is currently outside my budget so this does nicely for me.

I think Tudor is getting better but they still have some work to do to improve the proportion of some of their pieces.

Only watch in their current catalogue that I think is truly amazing is the BB54.

Lots of others miss the mark for me - BB GMT is way too big and thick in real life, BB GMT 58 is loads better but not a nice colour scheme, BB Pro has an amazing dial but too thick and heavy etc. etc.

Add to that the reality that the finishing in the case and bracelets are not that good for the price point (although new 5 link is nice).

When you compare the finishing to mid level seiko (e.g. sla079) or longines it doesn't seem that nicely finsihed in my view and is more expensive.

Not surprised sales have struggled a bit to be honest. I still have high hopes for the future though - a thin BB Pro and BB GMT 58 Pepsi with gloss dial would be great
