Lisa, I have another beautiful climber you could plant if you like.....Hydrangea anomala ssp. petiolaris. It's common name is Climbing Hydrangea and gets beautiful inflorescences of white flowers which are fragrant. They flower in early summer but I have flowers forming now. The leaves are green and turn yellow in the fall and have winter interest as the exfoliating bark has a cinnamon, brown color. They will grow in your zone(zones 4-7)and like sun to part shade. In hotter climates give them some shade. They prefer a good, self draining soil(well draining soil=add humus, compost or peat moss when you transplant) and even moisture throughout the growing season. Also do not forget to fertilize.....
Starting last year I have started incorporating organic fertilizers into the garden for the plants and supplement with commercial products like Miracle Gro. Check out Neptune's Harvest for their fish emulsion and seaweed fertilizers(they have a formula for each one separately or together). And Dyna-Gro for their Bloom, Gro and Orchid-Pro formulas...all are excellent sources for the Macro and Micro nutrients and trace elements that are needed for healthy plant grow!!!

A climbing hydrangea... sounds very nice, Leo. I'll read up on them.
Thanks for the info about fertilizers, too. I don't know too much beyond "Miracle-Gro." I'd really like to learn more about organic ways of keeping those stupid slugs/snails off of the hostas, too. They are literally chewing them to the ground. Beer collects them, but they still eat up the hostas before taking the big swim. Plus, I have several hostas and all that beer would get expensive. |

Lisa, they do make other products which will work on slugs but your are best to Goggle Organic methods to control slugs.....
Try the cheapest beer you can buy...also take the time to check each Hosta and pick them off and squish them with your shoes.....I'll check Google and at the garden center where I buy the organic fertilizers as they went completely Organic 25 years ago!!!

Lisa,
Did a Google search under= Organic methods to control slugs in the garden: The slugs come out mainly at nite and in the daytime they hide in moist soil underground... *Use squeezed out orange halves attract them... *Coffee spray-made from weak coffee plus grounds(which btw is good for the garden-source of Nitrogen)spray on foliage to be protected... *Physical barriers=scattered crushed egg shells, sawdust or wood shavings around plants to be protected(do you use wood mulch in your beds) www.gardensalive.com/article.asp?ai=627 *Coffee-caffeine affects them *Iron phosphate(products such as Sluggo and Escar-go(both organic) *Copper-it shocks them, you can commercial buy rings or buy copper sheeting *Human hair(do the girls need a cut)place as a protective barrier around the plants- they get tangled up and strangle themselves *Vinegar-spray bottle of white vinegar, spray around the plants but not on the plant foliage *Toads-they like to eat them Rove Beetles and Lightning bugs=they will eat the slugs as well as eggs There you go...have fun!!!

Thanks, Leo. I've been reading up as well and learning a thing or two. I'll definitely continue the beer traps and may try other methods if need be. Already there seems to be many fewer slugs munching on the hostas in the morning.
Even found that slugs prefer Budweiser over more expensive beers. |

I stopped at the garden center where the couple who own the establishment are strictly organic and they recommended a product called Earth-Tone=Bug and Slug Control for your slug situation. It is made by a company called Espoma and their selling price was $17.99 for a 1.25 lb. bag..... Good luck!!!

Yep, Lisa. There's a major handbag forum that feeds multiple obsessions, not just bags but jewelry, fashion, and other chitchat. I've been "over there" for a long time. I'm unclear about if it's okay to post links to other places, so if you want the link I'll PM you.
There are several gals from that forum who are here, too. |

I don't want to sound stupid but I was quite amazed to know there was a handbag forum! It seems quite logical now that I think about it but I was almost getting excited about it until I realized it wasn't necessary for me to join it...

Lisa- I own one SS lady date just with a blue dial. It is 10 years old and
has been my go to watch. I had to take it in for an overhaul recently and decided I just might need a "back up". I'm looking at the mid size 31mm datejust. |

There are a number of men who participate over there. Some are into manbags, but some are just interested designer and luxury goods in general. Of course houses like Hermes and Louis Vuitton have a lot of products for men.

Still, I have this business bag (is that how you call it?) to carry my books and things to school. Does that count? P.S.: Sorry for the hijack...no wait...can someone really hijack the girl's coffeeshop?

No thread consistency here, you're clear!
There are a few neat men's clothing/fashion boards, but the purse board isn't one of them, naturally. |
