Good to know that I'm not weird ha. Oh man speaking of Red Wings, love them. I've been wearing those forever as work shoes and just started to switch to AE. I was looking at Iron Rangers but then just decided that AE shoes seem to work for fancier occasions that the Iron Rangers won't.

The G&G MTO came in today. A day early.

These are the Monaco penny loafers. F width and Dainite soles. The hand stitching is amazing.

These are the St. James II in vintage cedar calf and kudu on the MH71 last. The iPhone doesn't do them justice. Where is Jocke when I need him.

Great choice, another Big Win!!

The hand stitching is one of if not the biggest factor why I had to get the E.G. Dover, G&G Ishan, and G&G Thorpe.

Well worth the wait. It's hard to capture the color and detail on the iPhone. They are more than I expected.

Thanks for the inspiration.

The Thorpes are on the radar. Given the fantastic quality of these shoes, I need to ponder the possibilities for the Thorpe.

Beautiful shoes. Being more of a loafer guy, I really like this style. The detailing is amazing for a loafer.

They did a great job. The craftsmanship is impressive. The Dainite sole flexes easier than leather, which makes them super comfortable. They'll get a lot of wear time.

The detail is what you pay for, the amazing part is what you get to enjoy.

Did you take a look at the pinking on the St James? Not the best photo but it does capture an example of it on the side of the shoe.

You really should look at more than just the Thorpe my friend.

I've had the magnifying glass out for half the evening. The more I look, the more I see. The really cool thing is the details align at the intersection of all the sewn sections - that is really hard to get right.

Yes! Amazing craftsmanship.
Been looking at kudu or a kudu mix in a winter shoe or boot. Something more casual as I just do not dress up as much as I once did.

The Thorpe, Glencoe, Isham, and Hove come to mind. The. St James II in Kudu and calf works rather well if you ask me.

Thanks Dan. Will do some more research. Planning on ordering something in the next week or two.

No problem.

There's a couple of different sites you might want to take a look at. Here's are a few good ones.

So I'm sitting here in my patio and it's raining outside (well, more of a light mist, but this is Southern California so we'll call it rain) and I am thinking about a pair of rain boots.

I like to idea of the C&J Snowdon boots but with a dainite sole. That would be like a poor man's version of the Galway, albeit not as sleek.

They look more like a work boot than the Galway's, if you're good with that.

Personally I don't like to think C&J boots are a cheap version of anything, However if your after something that looks more like a Galway a number of Shoemakers now make their own Galway to include the likes of Meermin, Enzo Bonafe, and Vass. Personally I'd rather have the actual Galway but I think Enzo Bonafe makes the best looking copy I've seen so far. But if you looking for something similiar and not a copy I would probably look at Carmina, Enzo Bonafe, or Vass.

The website was a little vague.

Our shoes are handmade in Europe by skilled artisans, each with decades of shoe-making experience. We use the finest leather and suede, tanned in Italy, and offer Goodyear Welted soles—the gold standard in shoe construction. Your shoes will be produced in approximately six weeks.

I have a pair of Snowdons with the regular sole. I think the proportions might be a bit off with a thinner dainite sole on them. I use mine as winter boots together with my Thorpes and Galways that I got with a ridgeway sole.

Here is an old picture of most of my boots:
