Hmmm

I remember when this thread started and how painful it was at times in the early stages and then how enjoyable it became but now in retrospect I have to wonder about this "Steve" guy.

He talks about all of these packing in's but does anyone remember even once his mentioning how he cleaned the water stains and finger prints off of his watches?

He talks about his buying new models for these exploration adventures but has he even given a slight hint about what he did with the stickers and tags and protectors for these watches?

He talks about the relative benefit of the color of his dials in relation to the white of the arctic and the darkness of the days but has he ever mentioned coordination with his socks color?

It makes me wonder about this guy, "Steve."

Superb, for your collection.

Outstanding, for how they are worn.

Thanks, for taking the time and energy to sharing them and their stories with us.

Hahaha!! Yes, very suspect indeed. He's definitely in the minority around here.

This is still my all-time favorite thread!

Wow. I read the first three pages, noticed the dates, then went to the last page and started reading backwards.

For those wondering where in the heck the group pic is... its on page 17. Now, back to page 1 and reading all the way to the end for me...

What a thread!

I've read this forum for a long time but only been a member for a short while and I've never posted.......Until now, when this has moved me to pay some respect to the author.
Thank you.

I dug out my '98 Explorer (owned since new) this morning and am currently bravely exploring at my desk.
Steve, your varied experiences and perspective on Rolex watches may well inspire me to write a bit more here.

Just one other thing:
You say "collection complete" but then you mention a 'Grail'.

These can't both be true - Which is it?

This is a good thread. And that is a beautiful Explorer. It looks so much better for the wear on it!

Wow!!! After 32 pages of posts that weave a great story, I have a new and significant appreciation for my Rolex sport watches, especially my Explorer II. It was a very enjoyable read, so thank you, Steve, for posting your thoughts and great pictures. I want more!!!

I remember when you made that first post and I also thought this thread was a bit of a hoax. I only now came back upon this thread again, and have been awestruck, and this is now one of my favorite threads in TRF. The content you've provided is simply amazing. The images of your watches in these extreme locations, and your pics of the places themselves, are just awesome!

And after the flaming reception your thread received at the start, you're the one who apologizes? You, sir, are a true gentleman. I'm glad you chose to rise above all the negative feedback at the start and continue with this thread.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. So a guy takes a stroll in the snow.

You want real adventure? With mind-numbing boredom interrupted by periods of sheer terror?

Right now, I'm exploring the US healthcare system.

Try finding your mother in THIS place. I could USE a map and a compass. :/

OMG. Thanks all. Never thought this would be brought back up. As there so many amazing story threads on here!
The collection is changing a bit, and was going to update this information the new year...
This is a great forum, and I have made friends with people- not them yet! But the two know who they are..
It's very humbling to read some of the comments. So once again many thanks.

3 Days, 952 Posts, Reading this thread complete!

Well it took me a few sessions over three days to read this thread and obviously it was well worth it. Thank you to the OP for opening up to us in this way, and thanks to all the contributors from the skeptics, to the optimists and enthousiasts! Varying opinions and perspectives makes the forum's wheels turn!

Lastly did anyone else think of Walter Mitty while reading this thread? Not the best movie ever but definitely worth watching!

Still the best thread ever.

Unapologetic BUMP for no other reason than this is the best thread ever in the history of TRF. *1

Go back to page one and start reading. You'll be finished in a few days. Happy New Year.

Hilo

[1] In my opinion, of course. *2

[2] But I'm right, so start reading.
